Can I Prove ConcernedApe Wrong?

In the newly added Desert Festival, there’s a challenge to collect as many Calico Points as you can in the Skull Cavern, but if you collect too many, the game thinks you’re cheating, and awards you nothing. I’m going to test if it’s TRULY impossible to get it without cheating.

  1. You would be 100% correct that it's possible to break the 999 limit in vanilla gameplay! the current deepest recorded floor deep on a vanilla save is 12285 done by @albinochipmunk about a month ago! which would bring the egg score to around 2457 utilizing frame perfect pause buffering! Now before you go trying this again because IK you want to, it took them 7 HOURS and 30 Minutes to do this single run…. very fun watching a pause menu for that long!
    As for the lag that would be a @BlaDeSDV question because I have no idea, as Albino's run didn't have the same lag but they also didn't do it on a festival day.

  2. I'm pretty sure the lag is caused by depth – doesn't the mine remember all your previous floors? Like, if you're down on 150 and I enter behind you on floor 1 don't I see the same floor 1 you previously encountered?

  3. that is actually epic. Ho about stair casing till… like a certain poitn and than doign bom+ stair case? It seams like in the ater half there where plenty of calioco nodes

  4. Theoretically iyt should be possible with perfect luck. If you get a statue next to you on every floor you would get 1.2 egg levels per floor. 1000/1.2 is ~834 and he got well into the 2000s so it should be possible unless there's something in the code preventing statues on every floor.

  5. Alright let's math this:
    You reached level 2465 at 12:50 am with an egg rating of 494, which means you activated 144 statues (about one statue every 17 floors). You seemed to have hit a stride sometime between 12:20 pm and 8 pm when you started mentioning the slow down. At that point you were averaging 6.01 Eggs per IGT (in game 10 minutes). After that, the amount of eggs you get for every IGT starts to decrease. While you were going up between 17 and 27 floors every IGT starting at 6:30 am, that range becomes much more sporadic after 8pm between 2 floors and 26 with it being most likely under 14 floors per IGT. The real question becomes why there is the slow down. If it is how far you go down then you want to maximize the statues. If it happens to be the number of enemies due to statues, we would need to maximize the levels.

    Some fun facts here: this run tended to average between 22 to 23 Levels per IGT and about 1.3 Statues per IGT. That gives us about 678 in one in game day assuming you enter the caverns at 6:10 and leave at 1:40. You had an average of one statue per 17 floors (about 5.84% of all floors).

    So here are the rates you would need to get to 1000, assuming you enter at 6:10 and leave at 1:40:
    If you want to get it using levels only, you would need to go down 43 levels per IGT.
    If you want to get it using the same rate of statues as your run, you would need to go down 33 levels per IGT.
    If you go down 22 floors per IGT, you would need 18.85% of levels to have a nearby statue (around 485.2 statues).
    If you have a statue every other level, you would only need about 12 levels per IGT (or 1430ish floors).

    In case you want it the formulas for these are:
    1000=(117L+585LP)/5
    L=5000/(585P+117)
    P=(1000/117L)-0.2
    where L is levels per IGT and P is percentage of floors that you get a statue from.

    The real question becomes how fast can one use pause buffering, and if you can't do 43 levels per IGT, how likely is it to get the needed percentage of statues to supplement the speed of descent without running into time issues?

    I'm putting this as plausible as even getting a statue once every ten floors means you only need to go down 29 floors every ITG, which seems pretty doable with more practice.

    (edit: of course I spent so long on this that we have an answer that the current lowest floor reached 12285 by albinochipmunk. thanks for confirming that over 43 levels per IGT is extremely possible, haboo. considering that had no lag I would guess the problem is the statues starting to really stack up the amount of enemies, so going for a no/limited statue run is probably the best).

  6. I think you've identified a memory leak. At the very least, @ConcernedApe should be made aware so this can be corrected. Show him your video as proof. Make a bug report. Because it shouldn't slow down like that.

  7. You have to do something like 835 floors with getting a calico statue that you activate on every floor as a minimum. for each calico statue you miss you obviously have to add 5 more floors.

  8. I’m sorry, when you’re at those high level floors; before you starting hitting all that lag, are there not floors popping up in which there are like 20+ calico nodes in the single shot of your zoomed in view. Why not get to these floors and drop a couple mega bombs? You’d get so many eggs so quickly that it must be worth doing rather than only stair casing
