Daniel Rosenfeld (C418) went from a grueling factory job to creating Minecraft’s iconic soundtrack. Ultimately being added to the Library of Congress for its cultural impact. The video details his creative freedom under Notch, his fallout with Microsoft after their 2014 acquisition, and his later success with his indie studio, Ivy Road, and continued influence on video game music history.

SORRY ABOUT THE AUDIO AT 6:58. i didn't realize i song i used was copyrighted and i paid the price 😔
C418 absolutely did the right things, nobody can blame him for wanting to save his passion and work 🥰
HOW DO YOU BRING UP C418 INSPIRATIONS AND NOT MENTION ERIC SATIE
I am not one bit surprised Lena Raine was able to keep up with c418 in the soundtrack, they did a phenomenal job on Celeste, it stands as one of my favorite game soundtracks.
It is sad that microsoft's greed couldn't just let c418 keep his music, they took a huge swing and missed big time. I don't know if Lena would've gotten involved in minecraft wasn't greedy, but I like imagining what we could've gotten, perhaps music with both artists, that would've been cool. Too bad all that won't ever happen since greed is the core of every massive company. I'm glad we got what we got though, I loved each and every soundtrack provided by C418, and I'm really liking what Lena is bringing.
I'm so happy there are resource packs that removes non-C418 music and adds missing pieces from Volume Beta
lol played minecraft i think 10 or 12 years ago when i was 16 or 18, its were i heard aria math and thought it was insane, recently jumped back into Minecraft at 28 and have been playing non-stop, the music is good and adds to the experience like c418s did, though c418s stuff you can listen to without the game (aria math is in my apple music lol).
ultimately, i dont play a game for the music, for me at least the music elevates the gameplay experience, the new stuff is good and works at giving me a awesome experience when playing minecraft, so yeah unlike a lot of the old school guys, i play with the music turned on.
Hey, i know you may be pretty tired, or whatever. But i want to remind you that God loves you! Don't worry for tomorrow, God is here with you. ❤ 🙂
1:12 if minecraft sounded like that pigs would be making vehicles
All the other artists are talented in their own right, but C418 is the only one who makes music that fits Minecraft imo.
I lose track of time when I play with music on. Its very good
7:52 i laugh really hard, like the idea of greedy company cannot get into library
Her and she?
Then he crashed out on twitter cuz he went full libtard
c418 made absolute bangers that i actually listen to I was actually listening to mice on venus when this vid was recomending to me lol
Im so glad C418 kept his exclusive right to the OG minecraft soundtracks.
Microsoft is such a shit company, they dont know who they had working on the Minecraft OST.
Skyboi i do like your video but i disagree with you in one thing, i dont think the other artists sound that close to C418.
They are good no question about that but i think C418 has the better/more fitting style.
Overall great video, im glad you told the story and spread the news that C418 was added to the Library.
C418 music takes you somewhere and tell you your story and journey, new Minecraft music doesn't have that, they are good music but they are just not it
Indistinguishable?
Surely you can hear the difference.
Bro cooked up the best Video Game soundtrack of all time
6:46 Toby Fox sneaky moment
i fucking love C418 and i am so happy to have the minecraft vinyls.
And i wish him nothing more than being rich af and having no problems in life ever again. he is so talented.
No sympathy for him on how Microsoft treated him given how he threw Notch under the bus due to politics
He got the karmic justice he deserved
