Since locked chests are a separate tile ID from their unlocked versions, doesn't opening a biome chest technically break a block?
Pro-tip. If you are gonna do this challenge. Use hero mod to give yourself the debut the old one's army gives. Helps if you find yourself instinctually trying to break blocks. Another pro-tip. Don't attempt this nightmare challenge
You could actually die and the tombstone can fail to find a valid location to be placed and it will eventually despawn, allowing you to not play hardcore (though playing it on hardcore definitely makes it more difficult and all that.) I wonder if anyone will try it on Expert/Master mode…

but what about the fact killing the wall of flesh spawns blocks? yes I understand that would limit the run to be pre-hardmode but I've been asking myself this the entire time I watched the video
Good video, the wall did place blocks, but also hardmode alters the world too so it's a reasonable exception
52:03 how item despawning works in this game is, if there are ever 400 items on the floor at one time they all instantly disappear

How hard would it be without the Preservation book? Also, the WoF spawning blocks is way more problematic than the Plantera Bulb (which is an enemy?)

Hey I've done something very similar to this!
I'm at 0:35 but I wanna talk about what I did.
I did not do hardcore, so graves were happening.
The jungle has to have an opening to the underworld. In some worlds it's cave goes all the way. So I went through worlds til that. I banned myself from crafting as well in this challenge, so I only geared up by enemy drops and chest loot. Full ancient cobalt and the water bolt did quite well against the wall of flesh. I did this on classic because fighting hardmode bosses without wings is a horrid experience. Sandstorm in a bottle I found in a pyramid does me justice for trying to dodge. I made it past the destroyer and skeletron prime but spazmatism would keep beating me, so I stopped around there. This title makes me wanna try it again though…

22:00 Tombstones will only properly land if there's a flat 2×2 space for them to be placed. They will break grasses and probably vines, but the following will allow them to not be placed:
– if it isn't a flat 2×2 (eg: if one block is heigher than the other)
– another type of furniture (eg: a placed work bench) blocking its space, including things that you wouldn't immediately think of like trees and dye plants. Probably also Crystal Shards
– a hammered downwards block

The bulb falls into the same category as the vines and such, it respawns/grows.
Plantera's bulb should not count… First it's a mandatory breakable for progression… Second it's a boss summon…..
