Another ability of the golf cart you didnt mentionned is the headlight, it give great light especially when you are still in pre hardmode, also the pogo stick can do tricks for cool factor Duoe fishrong mount also increase speed when under half hp wich can help a lot
Damage of mounts also what scales with summon damage, both projectile and ramming
I find the Mollusk Whistle really useful in early(ish) Expert or Master mode because its super high acceleration basically makes it a boot accessory that doesn't take up an accessory slot. As someone who's not great at the bosses in this game, having room for just ooone more DPS or survivability trinket can make all the difference.
I strongly disagree with your Basilisk mount ranking.
It has insanely good aerial control and acceleration, and I think it's competitive with wings all the way until you get post golem mounts (like the brain scrambler) or hover wings. AND it gives knockback immunity for free. I don't need wings to beat the game when I have this thing carrying me for most of HM, especially with a bundle of balloons (and even without one, you STILL get a free cloud in a bottle jump!)
In fact the ancient horn is essentially my go-to setup for saving up on accessory slots on most playthroughs.
I think you're overrating wings a bit here tbh
also the scutlix mount is B tier tbh, it just requires the bundle of balloons. once you have it, it's S tier
4:13 please watch one of the yardis vids where he uses the pogo stick combined with grapple to get extremely fast upwards speed. I think when he fights infernum yharon, he grapples upward and whilst keeping the momentum bounces with the pogo stick and gets a fast boost upwards, it has some tech
ok on the slime mount being 'the best mount' doesnt the queen slime one do everything it does but better? yeah its obtained earlier but if that was what matter the copper shortsword would unironically be the best weapon
Pogo stick is actually pretty handy for falling quickly. I believe it's' faster than with the slime mount. I used it to beat yharon. So, I think it's actually pretty good for combat if you already have good wings and want more flexibility.
As a modded player, slimy saddle and pogo stick are the best mounts in the game by far when it comes do bossfights, the "donwards dash" is a life saver.
The slimy saddle is usually my go to. Combined a double jump and a lucky horse shoe to not die each time I land and it is my main tactic for queen bee a deerclop
I honestly found that the wolf mount + bundle of balloons was really nice combination for hard mode all the way up until noon lord. The quadruple jump of the balloons is more than enough vertical mobility and the wolf is going to give you way better horizontal mobility without using accessories.
Cute fisheron is really not understood, it's by far the best mount for boss fights.
The speed bonus mentionned when going into liquids last for around 6s when going out of it, but it's also grant a +15% damage bonus. The buff is also activated while under 50% of PV, so there is an use for map traversal with RoD.
But back at the bosses, this mean you can do a verry simple arena without plateforms, but with bubbles and honey or water, and you'll get permanently the buff, wirh insane speed, and also free an accessory slot.
And Fisheron, if skilled enouth, can be dealt with beafore mechs. So if done, i do think this mount should be abused more.
I tend to not use mounts during most of my playthroughs because I generally forget they exist. The Lava Shark gets some use when in the underworld of course, and recently I finally got around to expert mode so using the broom, but for many, many years it was just "Why use mount when boots and wings work so well?" Think most of the issue comes from the fact that unless you're really lucky with terrain generation, the surface is too uneven to properly use most mounts. I mean, you either spend time evening out or building a skybridge, in which case you could also have laid out a world spanning minecart track or something similar. I think they should make a "fishing" secret seed that generates a world with more large bodies of water to better justify the water-based mounts and accessories.
Shrimpy truffle is S tier, arguably the best mount in the game for boss fights. Make a bubble arena or use water buckets midair to re apply the buff every few seconds. It can straight up cheese master mode Moon Lord with its speed.
You can use the superheated blood to mine hellstone, and the Cute Fishron is actually S, since you can purchase bubbles from the party girl and make pockets of water in the air on arenas.
Cute Fishron only in A tier? That thing that trivializes 2 of the hardest bosses in the game? (Moonlord and Daytime Empress)
Wait for rain, start any of these bosses, and realize that their attacks are mostly slower than you. Like a lot of their attacks simply don't aim where you are anymore.
"Black Spot is an easier and earlier obtain version of the UFO, so it's one rank lower"???
Especially since it's so much earlier and so easy to obtain, I gotta double the ???

I'm that rare person who dislike king slime's mount. For vertical speed and acceleration in particular.
Tbh i never use mounts in general

Pogo stick is used to fall really quickly, which is good in hellevators

Bee mount belongs higher I always use it with other equipment
I personally live the santank mount. Not because it's fast, but it's super cool
Good video! Have you ranked the mine carts yet?
Bestiary
unpopular opinion: the unicorn mount > UFO for actual boss fights
in my opinion golf cart is the best mount in pre-hardmode, it carried me through getfixedboi master Wall of Flesh
I should make one a massive minecraft salmon one day

I enjoyed this video. thank you!
yo I'm early

shrimpy truffle also goes fast if your under half health and gives a 15% damage boost under half health so I think it should be S tier 🙂
It's worth mentioning that the blessed apple (unicorn) was the first mount added to the game. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
The slimy saddle is usually my go to. Combined a double jump and a lucky horse shoe to not die each time I land and it is my main tactic for queen bee a deerclop
Pigron are just case of nostalgia, pre 1.3 it was best flying mount in game

The Flamingo mount also lets you float in water, which pairs with its fishing bonus.
I… didnt know the reindeer flied, to be honest.
