Reading Your Terraria Advice Before My First Playthrough

Bro there is a secret boss in terraria called the big drop and they drop crazy loot it’s by like the big domain and the domain has a blue sky and cyan ground I think it drops like the big drop sword and some enchantments🥹

bro ive played for over 1000 hours and NEVER play on medium core.

Somethig you should know those walls you where placeing down are just backround you actaully have to build an enclosed box and fill it in with walls for it to be conisdered valid housing and also items will only appear in your crafting menu if your near the right crafting sation and have the materials in you inventory to craft them you couldnt make a chest earlier cause it requires iron and you didnt have any the guide can tell you crafting recipies if you talk to him and click on his recipies option and put an item in the slot.

Yo unc, its me, PreviouslyDelta (i have a diff youtube name mb) im here to give you some more tips. (no spoilers!)

Immediate Recommendations:
Notice how all of your items drop when you die? that is fine now but in mid/late game some armor and accessories take hours to get. you can throw everything in a chest and then create a new character that's not on mediumcore and then rejoin the same world and it'll be fine (note that although you wont lose any items you will not be able to get that the 20 max life from your heart crystal back but trust me it will be worth it when all of your items don't drop into lava and you wont have to restart the whole game) if you decide to power through tho that's up to you

I noticed you built up with block a LOT to get back up, and you built staircases as well, both of these are fine but using ropes (which can be gotten from those pots in caves) you can place a block that acts sort of like the background walls but you can hold up to climb them which is really useful early game

when you crafted the copper broadsword you compared it to your copper short sword, and were shocked they both did equal amounts of damage, if you looked at the copper short sword you can see the word "ruthless" before it. that is a modifier that increases the damage of the short sword, which is why it didn't look like an upgrade when it was. modifiers can also make your weapons do less damage or your armor provide less protection (*and they can be on accessories as well, but off of the top off my heads i don't think any are bad)

if you hover your mouse over an item you can see if it can be placed or equipped, not necessarily the best tip but is useful

the money system in this game is very unclear, so ill explain it rq, money is dropped from enemies and is used to purchase items form npcs, money has four variants: copper, silver, gold, and platinum. 100 copper can be crafted into 1 silver, 100 silver into 1 gold, and 100 gold into 1 platinum. COPPER, SILVER, GOLD, AND PLATINUM BARS CANNOT BE USED TO MAKE COINS! it is really annoying but would honestly be super op so i get why it doesn't tho. you can sell your items to any npc by putting them into their shop ui (but once you close that ui you are NOT getting it back so please look over it carefully)

when the wandering trader spawned, you looked over his items but decided none were useful, however both times he had very useful accessories, the stopwatch and lifeform analyzer are very useful and are necessary for some upgrades later on.

Seth is GOATED, but you severely underutilized him. By speaking to Seth and opening up his menu titled 'crafting' you can hand him any item you have and he will tell you exactly what you can make with it, even if you aren't at the progression level yet so you'll know exactly what to save for and what you'll need in later stages of the game) don't be afraid to check weapons and accessories crafting because some of the crafting trees are incredibly long and weird

Platforms are highkey the best block type in terraria, you can stand ontop of them but by pressing down or s you fall through the, and you can walk through the side of them. when people mention arenas for terraria they usually mean creating multiple lines of platforms every 4-6 blocks (depending on your jump height) on the surface layer so you can quickly dodge boss attacks (a quick building tip: platforms can be placed inside of your housing to make separate rooms like normal blocks, but because you can walk through the sides of them, they can be used to turn 1 room into 2 rooms without making the whole building look ugly, just make sure that the rooms still meet the requirements for npc housing by checking the house icon, click on the question mark then on the room and if its suitable for npc housing, just wait for one to move in!)

pay attention to the chat a tad bit more, before bosses or events spawn you will get a indicator in chat, the first boss message is "you feel an evil presence watching you"

unnecessary improvements:

the happiness tab on your npcs admittedly looks pretty useless, but npcs actual prefer certain other npcs and biomes (you can look up the optimal locations for each but its highkey spoilers rn), and by putting them together you can purchase items called "pylons" which when placed in a certain biome and near villager housing allows you to teleport to any other working pylon, but if your villagers are unhappy they wont sell them (and you can only have one of each pylon type)

you can use cobwebs to do a water bucket clutch and avoid fall damage, but its hard to pull off

you can use hammers to alter the shape of placed blocks, making half slabs or slanted blocks for your builds

when exploring left or right you will find chests inside of caves, these contain some pretty good loot but if you also take every item out of the chest you can mine it and get a free chest so you wont need to craft one

gold is currently the best armor and tools you can make, so mine a lot.

yo man dont worry about losing your items because they never despawn in this game unlike minecraft.

unc im currently on my second playthru. make sure u pick up every kind of boots you find even if they dont seem useful so u can get the terraspark boots. its not major advice but its the one thing i wish i knew before i started
