Depends on the situation you are in true nights edge is good for single targets end has a longer reach end Excalibur is good for crowd the true nights edge does have higher DMG but the Excalibur is faster idk if this is a practical fact am also new just defeated the 3 mechanical bosses
I highly disagree, true nights edge takes horrible time to switch projectile speed. Trust me, I was using true nights edge and it did extremely inconsistent damage and could only land like 5 hits… It took like 2 mins for me to switch to true excalibur and it completely shredded her… Maybe your the beginner :/

Mechanical boss souls as cheaper that chlorophite!? I had chlorophite growing out of my ears. You are correct in saying that the player should know what they want, they wanted the Excalibur and that’s what they made. Going tack to the TNE for a minute, it being less time consuming to get is assuming that they have the Night’s Edge, if they don’t, then I recon that they are going to be unaware of it until they look it up or they put the TE in the Guide menu. Then they may have to go into the now POST MECHANICAL BOSS JUNGLE anyway for the blade of grass.

Obviously you should use the silver short sword for plantera
Before getting the nights edge, go for the corrupted or crimson sword, then go after the grass sword (jungle) then get muramasa then go get volcano
