    FYI the nightmare mechanic was bugged. For some reason monsters will spawn if a bed is touching a block or torch when the head is facing east or south, regardless of light level.

    That first map is like a time piece. Everything about it captures old minecraft, there was basically no small blocks or mechanics to decorate with, so people just worked with what they had. Seeing the old glowstone and fence lights mashed in with insanely green mossy cobblestone and a huge cobblestone castle with a throne made of straight blocks

    Damn, i wish i didn't delete my old world 😭
    I had an unfinishdd Echo base, a volcano with a maze in it, a desert temple with puzzles, some games like where chickens fall down a wall from dispensers and you gotta shoot them with arrows, and obv a castle lol.
    That game with the shovel where you mine the roof for treausre but some blocks have gravel and if you get hit you lose your turn.
    What else?….

    A primitive wooden village by a lake, a "town" of igloos.. 🤔
    In creative, if course. I miss that world 😅

    The "nightmare" mechanic for sleeping back then basically checked whether light levels were sufficient enough in a 2 block rectangular radius (a 5×6 area with the bed being in the center) and spawned a mob while cancelling your sleep if they weren't. The reason why you successfully slept at 32:52 and failed in other instances is because beds against a wall often triggered this mechanic due to there very frequently being 0 lighting on the other side of the wall (people being too lazy to light up the area outside their house), which would then result in the "nightmare" mode conditions being fulfilled and mobs spawning whenever attempting to sleep.

    It's impressive how much imagination everyone brought to the table with old Minecraft's limited palette. There were no standards, nobody to impress, nobody knew anything. Everyone just built they wanted, with what they had, because they could. And our imaginations did the rest.

    ydarb if you want to fix your skin search for
    "How to fix skins for Minecraft beta 1.7.3 (tutorial)"
    Maybe it works for 1.8 too
    Or Go into the minecraft launcher, click on Installations then your version, edit, and add the things from the clipboard(watch the video) into the JVM arguments
    It worked for me but I did it for version 1.7.3 and on a multiplayer server but it will probably work in singleplayer too ( I had to rejoin a few times)

    I think nightmare was only in beta but it happens if any sides of the bed are touching any walls because the walls make the light levels technically low, which is a glitch.

    Wasn't expecting Stargate Atlantis to come up in this video (Dr. Rodney McKay is a character from that show. I respect the level of nerd this person had to be to dedicate an entire build to him)

    you know earlier today i was playing the newest version of minecraft because i haven't played any updates since caves and cliffs part 2 so i wanted to build with all the new stuff and i saw torchflowers and my friend went on the same rant you jokingly went on i can kind of see the problem with sniffers but i love the stuff you can get from them and how weird they are as a creature but like the complaint about the flowers themselves i felt was a little dumb

    I remember back when I was playing my first ever world on my Xbox 360 after an update it made my world half snowy and it pmo so much because the snow texture looked tacky to me back then 😢
