How many renewable items are in Terraria?

A funny theory, I had this question after watching Kenadian’s video on his take on this, but in Minecraft! Turns out, a LOT more blocks in Terraria are renewable than I thought at first…

notes on world downloads:
– MM = Master Mode, GFB = GetFixedBoi
– hellforges are where the dungeon is, MM is on the right, GFB is top left
– unsafe dirt wall at depth 900′ underground in GFB right above spawn

  1. Instead of using getfixedboi you could just combine secret seeds. This is what Shimmering Skies (a skyblock map you briefly referenced) does. Allegedly this will be easier in 1.4.5 (coming this month).

  2. 9:09 Minor correction for that image, but the martian madness should also be crossed out. The old one's army would miss tier 3 too, but that is more of the wiki's fault for leaving it as one thing.
10:23 Also, chlorophyte can randomly replace mud if it is near jungle grass in hardmode, making it and everything made from it (except spectre stuff) obtainable.

  3. The problem is that the items in Terraria are interconnected and these 9% of the items. You can get 90% of the bundle of balls, terrabots, dungeon loot. But you know what? It makes no sense without a cloud in a bottle, skates and a shadow key.
From the experience of the old skyblock in Minecraft, modders should probably add some custom drops/crafts. For example, blizzard shimmer, hellstone, temple and dungeon block drops, crafting hell forge, altar and dark heart. And so on.
In this setting, passing the Terraria skyblock would be a matter of skill. But now I'm sorry, it's unplayable except for short challenges
