I'm going for the 999 challenge. Some fish like the crabpot fish give the same thing, so I only need 1 for them, but the other fish give individual roe. I need 1998 of all them so I can have 999 roe and 999 aged roe. This is going to take a while.

I think your best bet is to fill up a bunch of the existing fish ponds with saltwater crab pot fish until you get all the seaweed you need to build the ponds, although that depends on the time of year. You could pay a visit to the night market submarine if it’s winter, where you’ll get lots of seaweed. And in the summer, there’s always the trick of fishing with a training rod at the beach since none of the summer fish can be caught with a training rod. And if you feel like mixing things up a bit, don’t forget that you can forage seaweed in the earlier levels of the dangerous mines. If you go that route, make sure to have the gatherer profession for a chance to pick up double
For green algae, it’s probably faster and easier to go to the mines with monster musk and a burglar’s ring and go to town on green slimes. Ideally using a weapon with the slime gatherer enchantment since you’re going to need an astronomical amount of slime, so you may as well get a head start. But if you wanted to fish for it, the desert pond after 8pm might do the trick as well, since there are no fish. It can also drop from slimejack ponds and freshwater crabpot ponds, but I’m pretty sure those are comparatively a lot slower

-Mining and gathering algae from monster drops is fastest with the burglar ring and monster musk active, you’ll be killing a LOT of slimes, but it’ll do the job. -For seaweed, I found that the lowest level fishing rod at the night market submarine gave me 20-50 seaweed if I locked in all three nights, and that will give enough momentum to get through spring and slowly gather from other sources naturally. Crab pots with no bait requirement is also a good option if I recall. -As for stone, you can get it while algae hunting, or if money isn’t a factor, just outright buy it. Or you can stockpile jade for staircases and deconstruct them for 99 stone.
You’ll probably ly have to rotate through the ponds, putting in new fish, just due to space. That’s probably why it takes 2000 hours
