As a player who actually enjoys fishing, I was happy about the expansion of the items pool from fishing crates. In update 1.4.5, dungeon, desert, and hell crates now drop their respective paintings. While this is a cool new way to obtain paintings, it comes with a problem
Inventory clutter. There are a lot of paintings, and when you open crates, they fill up your inventory. Considering that 99% of players fish up crates for accessories or bars, for most people the paintings will just be an unnecessary nuisance
I propose that instead of paintings, crates should drop new items: painting covers, which would work like Christmas presents or goodie bags. That means what you could right-click them to open and receive a random themed painting. This way, paintings could still be obtained from crates, but inventories wouldn’t get clogged with them, and players who don’t need paintings would simply put the obtained covers in a distant chest and open them when necessary

Since it’s likely to be a long time before the next update, consider using the new “similar item” quickstack feature. Drop a chest near where you farm, prime it with a painting, boom, dump paintings there.
Take a special trip later if it gets full or you really need the gold.
Post this in terraria forums suggestions
Shoving dungeon and hell furniture in there would be nice too.
