On your own, personal world? No. It’s YOUR world, YOU make the rules.
On a server/SMP? Ask what everyone else feels about it. Some servers have rules, some don’t.

Nothing you are comfortable with is bad, in your own world. Make your own rules, play the game how you want to play it, it’s a sandbox game after all.
You don’t have to compare yourself to other, just enjoy yourself.
I usually will look something up on chunkbase when the regular in game method or simply ‘looking around for a while’ were ineffective and I am starting to get frustrated.
Some people say I cheat because I play on peaceful when I just want to chill. I don’t care.
But on the other hand I have never summoned in anything or turned on creative – I would loose the ability to get achievements in my forever world, that’s important to me. Find out what’s important to you, and stick to that.

Not at all. The only thing that counts as cheating is going into creative mode and pretending it’s survival legitimate.
Anything else is fair game for whatever play-style you have

I think it’s not cheating, though it kinda ruins the purpose of exploring. What’s the point of minecraft if it’s not finding everything by yourself?

The debate over chunkbase really just tells me Mojang needs to add better in-game ways of travel, transportation, and discovery of these biomes and structures. I shouldn’t have to spend literal hours finding a specific biome or structure, but I shouldn’t have to use an external website either.
To answer your question, it’s only cheating if you decide it’s cheating your own rules. If this is on a server it might be a different case.

Only time anything is “cheating” is if u are on multiplayer and the other players didn’t agree to using something. Solo it doesn’t matter .

You can’t really cheat in a sandbox game

There is no such thing as cheating on single player, play In whatever way keeps you coming back for more.

Singleplayer sandbox, bla bla bla, do whatever you want

On your own world, no, nothing is cheating if it’s your own world, since it’s ***your world*** and you can do what you want with it, but on a server, it depends on the server, some are okay with it, some see it as cheating
