My tip is to make the first two weeks about nothing but getting to fishing level 9 (unless you luck out on the traveling cart for a food with a high fishing buff). Being ready to catch the Legend when it rains is imperative. It can’t be understated how valuable a Legend in the fish pond makes your first year amazing.

Leapalot is wrong about the Preserve Jar. Legend Roe > Crimsonfish Roe > Starfruit > Ancient Fruit > the other 3 legendary roe > Magma Cap.
That's assuming regular quality too. Regular Pumpkins are better than Gold Magma Caps. If you have Botanist and only pick up Irridium Magma Caps, then regular or silver quality Pineapples, Purple Mushroom, Red Cabbage, Blobfish Roe, Ice Pip Roe, Melons and even Rhubarb all jump ahead of it. Well, maybe not silver Rhubarb, but it's equivalent.
You could sell the boots to Marlon 😅
I married Shane and it was bad then I found a mod that actually let him continue to get better and clean his room lol. He's awesome now. Helps on the farm and works at the ranch. 😁 And all the alcohol cans are gone too.
Here’s my tip: place a chest next to the elevator in the mines. Use the elevator to go back to the top every 5 floors and dump your bag contents out into the chest. Grab your stuff from the chest before heading home. Try to clear 5-10 floors every time you go in the mines.

Today (6-2-2026) I accidentally found a new Item ID glitch related to the Deluxe Worm Bin.
For a Deluxe Worm Bin you need 30 Moss + 1 Worm Bin. However, you can substitute the Worm Bin for a Frozen Geode! So you can skip crafting the regular Worm Bin for 15 Hardwood, 1 Gold Bar, 1 Iron Bar and 50 Fiber. This works in your normal crafting tab and in the workbench.
As I was writing this comment, I googled if someone else had discovered it, but it seems to be an NS2 issue. ConcernedApe also addressed it on X. However, I am playing on the Nintendo Switch. I am curious if other people can replicate it.
I am pretty sure my lava eels or sting rays are giving me magma caps. I rarely go into the volcano but have quite a few caps.
