So… is the Barnacle Staff WORTH IT?
Terraria’s new 1.4.5 update has added a new sentry, the Barnacle Staff! But is it worth it? How does it perform compared to the Queen Spider Staff? Is it good against the Mechanical bosses? Should you fish?

I fished for 5 hours (surface jungle) to get this thing. I then fished up 2 in the underground jungle before getting 1 variegated lardfish.
I love Terraria 🤗
I personally used it for:
– The Destroyer where I felt it did good at taking out the probes.
– Skeletron Prime where it really did seem to be putting in the work.
– Pre-Mech Duke. I actually felt it was doing great, especially in the 3rd phase where it was very accurate.
– And Plantera, where me and a buddy used 9 of them. I honestly don’t really know what to think.
Overall I found it to be a very enjoyable and useful sentry, excusing the 5 hour fishing session, of course. I had GOOD fishing gear too.
Its the goat purely for being some more fishing content.

Hm…I wonder how well a debuff-tagging build would work with the Flameburst (Hellfire), Queen Spider (Venomed), and Barnicle (poisoned) sentries each having a slot, alongside a cursed-inferno flask (cursed-inferno) on the cool-whip (frostburn). Could go full defenses and focus on just applying your debuffs rather than doing straight damage.

i've just done the barnacle to get a use to the update content, and variate a little the experience as have already played summoner before and i have used the spider sentry back then (also done that with the mushroom minion but i quickly switched to Imp as i got him)
Ay my sandgun+ammo reservation pot turned 5 sand into 405. Nice.
To be honest the barnicle staff is better for prime and twins, you focused the whole strategy around making the most out of the sentries, in a normal right you usually don't do that and are all around the arena so the extra range from the barnicle would be better
i got TWO FUCKING JUNGLE KEYS and never ended up getting the barnacle staff 😭

Honestly, the devs chose such good weapons to take from Desd Cells. They all kinda just fit in seamlessly into progression. Besides Mushroom Boi!, he could probably be changed a bit.
I really dislike some of the new summoner items placements. Really cool ones like the fishron and plantera ones get immediately outclassed, it's not even worth it to farm them. You could beat golem without a whip upgrade pretty easily before, and same with EoL (most of the times I just leave fishron after I get kaleidoskope, so whatever), and prehardmode the snapthorn exists. Out of all the whips, the only new ones I found a use was the cobwhip before I get the snapthorn, and the constellation before moon lord. Meanwhile summoner's sentries are god awful and very far in between, and they give us this weak ass sentry which is weaker and ten time worse to farm then queen spider staff. It takes real effort to make these cool and unique summoner items and making sure no one in their right mind would get to see them.
