I'm trying to make a small modpack that emulates beta Minecraft so that I can achieve that feel with a few modern mods. The main feature I'm missing is the removal of modern recipes. I found the Beta Recipes mod (https://modrinth.com/datapack/beta-recipes) which looks perfect, but I can't get it to work at all. Is there something I can do to get it to work / can anyone recommend me other mods that get me a similar result?

Use kubejs, go into the server scripts folder, make a js file that removes all recipes. Look up how to remove that recipes it’s extremely simple there. AI can also do it for you if you make a list of everything to beremoved
To be clear, that’s a data pack, not a mod. It goes in the data pack folder for each world, not mods. Should work even in vanilla.
(Of course the pack could also be broken.)
