So I'm doing a vampire summoner run and with little info known about the update I'm largely having to test things myself. Completely by surprise, I discovered that using an umbrella negates the sun and the dopamine hit seeing it work when I had no idea was wild.

Yep, I think if it’s raining you also don’t get hit by the sun. During our run we pretty much stayed underground but was forced to make a giant room on the surface for bossfights filled with walls.
Graveyards also will darken an area and negate sun but the mobs spawning can be annoying.
A tip I’ll give you is that you burn easily and I mean anything that burns you will kill you. This includes Betsy, Mourning Wood, Golem (especially him), Lava etc. you need to run obsidian skin potions or else you just die quickly.
Having a moon and sundial helps a lot since you can’t sleep during an event and it’s especially annoying during pillars and moon lord since there’s no way you’re fighting moon lord himself at daytime unless it’s coincidentally raining.
