As a newer player too on year two. Youre doing quite well. Play at your own pace. On birthdays give them gifts to really increase their friendship.
Try to talk to everybody so friendship doesn’t decay. Pet your animals too.

If you’re having fun then you’re doing good.
That being said, you should start organizing your chests as soon as possible. For now you can putt crops, fish and foraging stuff in one chest and everything else in the other one.
