This is a work in progress in survival (made a creative save to take a decent screenshot). I have plans to expand this homestead type base quite a bit.
My problem is, Initially this area had a bit more variation in the terrain. I decided to flatten it all to look nicer before building out the barn, farm, and animal pens. But I’m kind of regretting it, and think maybe it would look better if the there was some more variation (like the barn being a level or two higher).
Thoughts? I just know it’s going to be a pain to essentially rebuild everything a few blocks up. I just think it looks a bit plain on one level.

NO THAT LOOKS SICK
it looks good already. i understand the struggle. id say keep it as is, add a little detail between the buildings, and build your future projects on varying levels
it really does look good
I think general terraforming would help and paths/shrubbery/maybe some rocks would pull it together nicely, other than that it’s a fantastic build
I think its fine, you could always teraform the area behind to make it flat
This is how I do all my bases to start, chip a chunk off an area, all flat and build. Once the basics are in and I can gather large amount of resources I’ll expand outwards using the terrain
You don’t want your barn above your house. Rain will cause pig shit to flow into your house. Should have put the barn at least 200 ft away downhill.
If you were aiming for realism ;3
I think it looks pretty good, maybe if you decide to add a new building it can be up a block or two
unflatten it a bit, for example you can def dig a lil bit to push the slope closer to the farm, add some lumps of dirt in other areas, you can also use trees to hide plain areas, plant some
Nah, do what ya like. The best part is just move a build and different one when you get bored with it.
Not at all. Looks really cool, and you can build lots of stuff underneath.
My trick for making builds in flattened terrain not look “unsettlingly flat” is to put details around the edge to reinforce that it’s deliberate. Kinda like you did with the corner of the house.
I tend to use 2-block deep or textured retaining walls in incriminating spots. It takes it from “this looks unnaturally flat” to “this is deliberate”.
That said, I like it, and don’t think it looks weird or too unnatural.
it looks very good, but in the future i’d definitely build some bits on different levels.
I would say that you should add more yellow dirt path between your barn, crop farm, and animal pens but overall your area is really creative and detailed.
Look up retaining walls. It’s what I do when I need to carve a piece out of a slope because it’s what people do irl lol
What buggs me more is that sharp cut into stone behind the shed
No it looks good, natural. Eventually I’d replace the torches with lanterns on poles
