working on an RPG modpack with a system where instead of getting abilities through upgrading spell books, you unlock gear from fighting bosses, mining rare ores, finding structures
It's mainly magic/spellblade oriented but theres three builds that are being worked on:
Strength: High HP, high damage melee (Tank or DPS), mostly oriented around surviving through lifesteal, heavy damage mitigation and blocking, using medium and slow weapons, scales very well early
Dexterity: Low health but high mobility, using bows, crossbows, spears and small blades, their way of surviving is by using dodge rolls with i-frames and parrying with daggers, leveling your dexterity attribute also increases your dodge roll i-frame, dodge count and recharge speed, scales well into mid-game
Intelligence: All about the spells, either full mage or close quarters spellblade, not super survivable but they can have a tool for every situation cause of the wide range of spells in-game, best for late-game scaling
loot is dynamically gated through levels which are calculated by talents, attributes and your gear, youre not going to walk into a structure and open a chest just to find 4 diamonds in it
Other than that, theres a few cool features Im working on which include a Villager chat,
Villagers notice when you reach certain advancements, or when they've been raided (and you helped), mostly flavor text when youre passing by a village, but I'm working on a working conversation system for certain rare situations, think "You've died too many times, and the cleric gives you a potion if you wish to accept it"
Leveling attributes/talents and acquiring better gear increases your permanent power level, which makes enemies scale all around the world
Your day-to-day mobs will scale from a range of levels close to yours, while mobs from certain structures, bosses and the Nether/End will have their own level threshold you need to pass
I dont have a lot of images because Im mostly just focused on working but I wanted to share a few small things cause Im really happy with where I got
