It’s all in the music theory. All of the newer music was designed to invoke entirely different emotions from the original tracks.
It’s actually a pretty good indicator of how the design philosophy has changed over the years.
The older music says: here is a world all of your own. It is lonely, but you can create anything you want with it.
Then new music says: here’s a world full of content to explore. Go see it all.

There’s a chunk of the community that will hate all new things no matter what, it’s better to ignore them.

Screw the community. If you like it, then you shouldn’t let anyone change your mind. We can only control our own actions, not everyone’s.

“Two cakes” applies to many things, and I do like listening to the new music, but it just doesn’t fit in Minecraft in my opinion. I sometimes listen to the soundtrack while not playing Minecraft, and I have a resource pack to remove non-c418 music from the game lol

People actually hate on the new music discs?????? They slap unbelievably hard

People hate the new music because of nostalgia towards the old. (Is what I’m going to guess, considering all the opinions I’ve come across regarding the music)
Personally, I love the new music, and I think it has a great place in current day Minecraft. I can understand why others wouldn’t feel the same, but at the same time there’s no reason to outright hate the newer tracks.

i’ve stopped playing modern versions now, but from what i remember circa 2023, the new music seemed waaaaay more common than the old music

I feel like some new songs are great but others aren’t good enough, C418’s music is much more consistent

I like how there’s actually variation to the music discs now to collect. I hope that there’s a new music disc in every update that correlates to (or is obtained from) whatever content there is in the update

I only wish music from [T_en_M](https://www.youtube.com/@TenM) was able to be modded into the game, because those are some sick songs!

Because while the new music is good, C418’s two volumes of OST are some of the best video game music ever written.

Precipice is awesome.
It’s also interesting to learn what songs are either soundtrack only, survival only, or creative only.

I actually prefer the newer music it sounds so good I’ll always like the old one but I’m always hoping that the new one plays while I’m playing

Its not the fact that we are getting new music that pisses the community (and myself) off. Its the fact they are phasing out the old music. I haven’t quite noticed it at first, but it’s been literal years since I’ve last heard a C418 track in game outside of the music discs. Honestly, the newer versions are feeling more and more unplayable due to the fact Mojang is actively removing the Minecraft I grew up with. Not changing mind you, *removing*.

The only two things that annoys me about the new music is that the same songs repeat often and the old music rarely plays for me anymore.

After our base burned down on an mc server, I gave a HEAVENLY villain monologue to my basemates to encourage rebuilding while it was playing. Fit the tone well.

Simply because it isn’t the old music.

I dislike the new music because it goes for a completely different atmosphere *and* it plays **WAY** more frequently in my experience and I really love the original music, so I’m left with the disappointment of not getting to hear songs I like very much, on top of it not really feeling like it belongs in the same game.
The new music isn’t *bad* but it just doesn’t stack up to the old.

Because instead of throwing it all on a big playlist, they made the new music play far, far more often than the old music. You’d hear the same Lena Raine song for the 9th time before you heard the same C418 song twice. As someone who spent a long time in the same area working on a big build, I heard the same two or three Lena Raine songs countless times and got excessively bored of them, meanwhile I don’t think I heard every applicable C418 song once. It got to a point where I would turn off the music for a moment every time a Lena Raine song came on so that it would skip it, but they removed the ability to do that so now I just don’t play with music anymore.
