It would have to be a really attracting update. I’m currently too invested with 1.20.1 and with all the vanilla back ports available, I haven’t really found a reason to leave

  1. I will say those numbers may not be entirely accurate. Mods from older versions didnt tend to be as modularized as they are now. Thermal was all one mod. Now its like 4. Not to say it comes close to 1.20, but it likely would have a much higher count if it was compared with the same standards.

  2. I really really really hope that Hytale won’t have this problem. Imagine wanting to play your game with new content with mods, but they are locked on a specific version, so you have to chose which version to play. Also, newer mods may not work on older versions, also, you have different mod loaders. It’s just a mess

  3. I feel that one reason for 1.20.1 having so many mods when compared with older (1.7.10, 1.16.5, 1.12.2) versions is the use of AI to make slop mods. McCreator getting more popular could also be a reason.
