You may or may not know that you can place carpets on top of water by starting on land, bridging over water, and breaking the connecting carpets. Not sure if this is well known or not, but I was experimenting and found out that you can place things like hanging roots and glow lichen underneath the carpets on top of water to look more like some floating plants!

You can see in the last images I tested with some other blocks like dripstone and amethyst as well. The one on the far right in image 5 is glow lichen, so you can use this as a hidden light source too!

I also found that you can straight up just make floating carpets for parkour or decoration by placing the block underneath the carpet while there's water, then sponging the water away. And I didn't take an image of it, but you can also do this with lanterns
