What if Whip Stacking was in Terraria 1.4.5?
Honestly bringing back Whip stacking would be fine if they just made it so tag damage prefixes didn’t apply multiple times when stacking multiple whips.

Summoner was significantly buffed in 1.4.5 overall through the Fabled modifier, new whips and more even compared to 1.4.4 Whip stacking Summoner when taking ease of use & practicality into account. It went from being debatably the worst class in 1.4.4 to debatably the second best class in 1.4.5. So when you bring back Whip stacking on top of all this, especially with the possibility (not really sure) that each whip tag is "duplicating" the bonus tag damage from the new prefixes, it's bound to make Summoner extremely powerful.
okay 12 seconds master mode empress kill with blade staff is just too much. You can't even reliably do that with the Zenith.
Wait… what actually changed? Why are the kill times the same as before? Am I missing something?
No, seriously, I just became more convinced that a solution could have been found here to keep the whipstack and balance it all.
Whip stacking looks so fun, and definitely makes summoner a bit more interesting to play, so I understand why people are upset that it's gone now… But I also understand why they removed it in the first place, it would be SO broken in 1.4.5
It looks so fun, I miss it haha
forsen jumpscare
I see why they took it out
Is whip stacking on 1.4.5 dead only for single player or it's also for multiplayer?
What if there like 4 Summoner player using Blade staff minions, BUT they using 4 different whips? For example Spinal tap, snapthorn, cool whip, and probably durendal.
They call it 'Omni Whip stacking'
(Yes, i referring to sorbet cafe video 16 summoner vs master mode.)
I'm glad whip stacking was removed, even though mechdusa and duke fishron are kicking my ass in getfixedboi
I couldn't believe my eyes when someone said Summoner was significantly buffed in 1.4.5 overall through the Fabled modifier, new whips and more even compared to 1.4.4 Whip stacking Summoner when taking ease of use & practicality into account. If Whip Stacking was kept for 1.4.5, Summoner would now have a fraction of the power Redigit gave for Melee
people in the comments whining about how its not fair that they cant become batshit op anymore
you're telling me pre-golem summoner with whip stacking can literally match the dps of the other three classes' endgame builds (excluding the zenith for melee)

terraria baj <3
1:42 Woah, there IS a monster in THESE woods dude!
terraria 1.4.5 if relogic weren't cowards
blade staff truly is this serious
1.4.5 if it was good
Lol the forsen stream in the background
Whip stacking is definitely not balanced in 1.4.5. A 12 second empress kill is INSANE.
Whip stacking is overrated lol
This video made me really think. Like, Summoner was significantly buffed in 1.4.5 overall through the Fabled modifier, new whips and more even compared to 1.4.4 Whip stacking Summoner when taking ease of use & practicality into account. I still think the effect stack should be a thing. It's the tag damage stack that makes sense being removed
In my honest opinion, removing whip stacking in favor of other buffs was a good change for accessibility.
…Though I think a BETTER change would be doing something like what the Fargo's Souls mod does. They just nerf whip stacking without outright removing it. Using more whips weakens their buffs/debuffs.
People who whip stack can still enjoy bonuses, while people who don't whip stack won't miss out on so much potential damage. Plus, I think it adds more strategy to choosing whips (e.g. Is the bonus a 3rd whip gives you worth weakening the other 2 bonuses for?).
You could even say it's the best of both worlds.
I had fun with whip stacking but after 1.4.5 gave us summon weapon modifiers I don't even miss it slightly. Sure it would make fights faster but Terraria always felt more like a test of endurance rather than your DPS, with only a handful of bosses having hard a hard time limit and that time limit being extremely generous if you think before summoning the boss
Your aim will Betsy Wrath is impressive.
the accident wasn't your fault, you need to let whip stacking go
I wish we could have kept the mechanical depth of whip stacking without compromising game balance
if only they implemented a cap/penalty on whip stacking and reduced summoner's base strength… players having to engage with tech to optimise DPS… scary
Soooo can we see some similar dps with 1.4.5 susmoner
