I took the advice about adding beams on the ceiling, looking for feedback on those as well as removing the wall that had the painting and replacing it with a water feature. I was able to work around the already existing window by using trap doors which don’t cover up the window too much.

I added beams up to where the staircase ends and added a thicker intersecting beam made up of 2 rows of stairs facing back to back to create a hard ending to the beams. This essentially splits the room into 2 distinct areas or at least I think it does!
