It made my Xbox glitch where I had to redownload the game cause after doing it 4-5 times my worlds and characters stopped showing up until I deleted it and redownloaded it, not an issue at all but I was definitely worried I got banned or something 😂
If you have friends its even easier and faster requiring no chests at all same premises save items then on next join drop the dupe items and force close the game when you load your character it will keep your last saved inventory let's just say this has existed for nearly 10 years now as a dupe people just dont realize how lenient the save system is for your characters
Imo this method is literally the same as copying the world file and grabbing stuff drom the duplicated world, which at this point might as well take it from all item saves.
I don't know, i just did it on accident i guess. I have the autosave on, so instead the world is constantly eating my item in that on chest. I'm just trying to collect all whip and each time i opened the chest, one whip is gone. I move my whip out and replace the chest so now it's bact to normal
The people beefing/arguing about the use of exploits to dupe items must realize, everyone has the right to do that, not like you're the one supposed to convince someone to not use a glitch or something like that
there's also a multiplayer latency dupe, it's just that you can take items out of a chest in the window where the host isnt in the world before you get kicked.
This method has no risk to your save file, the only risk is on the items you are trying to dupe.. if you do it wrong. Also there is zero risk if you backup on a usb.
The thing is, this is due to the saving system variation between the character and the world, so unless they change that system entirely this will continue to work
or if you have crappy internet while playing with a friend, you could just drop an item and try to pick it up for a few minutes. Turned one bat bat into 7 because of my internet
You can do this on multi player too I died playing multiplayer on switch and just instantly left by force closing the game All of my dropped stuff was still in my friends world and also back in my inventory so everything was duped Don't know if it still works cause I did this a year before journey update

I did it and it deleted all my worlds including one from 2016, is there any way to recover the worlds?

at that point just copy your saved world and dupe like that, after all its safer than corrupting ur save
If your on pc cant you just copy your save files, world or character get everything or select?

if u are going to dupe things why don't you just download an "all items map", it's faster and safer

On ps4 if you put the item on the chest.
Auto trash it from the chest.
Close the chest.
And open again.
The item will be duped on the chest.
