[Fanart] How it felt today reading all the 1.7 comments
"Who asked for this?!" Me. I asked for this. I Personally went to ConcernedApe to ask for this. I'm going to marry Clint on a new savefile everytime I read a mean comment about him.
SAME I love Clint and I’m happy to hear this news!

I asked for this too!
Okay, not literally. But I’ve always had a similar relationship to Clint that most people do to Shane- I see his depression, his loneliness, and I want to help him out of that rut because I know he’s not a bad guy.
EndlessDreamers on
My men of choice are Shane in vanilla and Andy on modded SVE. Now Clint is gonna be on that rotation.
I have a type and it’s bad decisions and I’m okay with that.

It’s not my favorite, but I did find it strange that you couldn’t get a date, so I’ll definitely give it a try.

seriously some of yall are getting so worked up about more content being added to the game. i love my little rock boy

Ya know he wasnt my first pick, but I’m glad that he ended up being the new batchelor. People get way too bent out of shape and pigeon hole the character like he doesnt have the potential to grow and evolve. There are plenty of examples of other characters that start off kinda rough but as you interact and get to know them they grow themselves, ya know, like actual relationships between people do.
Dont write off the character till hes been given a proper chance. Let the man cook. If you don’t like it, dont put a ring on it, that simple.

I’m actually really excited to see him getting more development! I was a little surprised to come online and see everyone mad about it lol

For real. Always liked Clint. And in addition, there were only three bachelors who didn’t feel like teenagers (Shane, Elliott and Harvey), and among them only Shane felt like an actual human with actual flaws. I’m happy to see Clint join him on that list. And he’ll probably have a cool blacksmith-themed room.

I say this as someone who doesn’t particularly like Clint, but I’m excited to see his heart events. Maybe I set myself up for it bc I was thinking about what if Clint got a proper arc like Shane did just recently. I’m hoping the best for him, I will be making him smooch a hunky masc farmer if I like what I see.

Clint is so sweet and shy I cannot wait to see what its like romancing him!

I love him and it makes me sad that people are hating on him 🙁 He’s literally just a guy with some social difficulties, calm the hell down.

I wish that when you married the other villagers would pair off or something. I believe it was Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town that initially had something like that? IIRC the npcs would have their specific couples and as time passed they would eventually get married and something along those lines. I wish SDV had something similar, but it would upset people not to be able to marry and divorce 10 times just so you can get as many doves as possible or something.
Just random thoughts from a random stranger that doesn’t really matter. I still thought it was a cool mechanic back in the day.

He’s not the character I would have picked, but new content is new content! I look forward to seeing what comes of it.
Also, it’s pretty cool that 1.7 will be the first time you can date merchants in the game. I’m sure there won’t be any sort of gameplay change (there will probably just be a cute one-off line about, like, “My favorite customer!” or “I wish I could give you everything for free… but I have to keep my business afloat!”), but it’s interesting that it wasn’t ever an option until now.
I guess Emily was a merchant? She didn’t own the saloon, but you could still buy stuff from “her”.

Why didn’t you include Clint’s vascular ballsack

I’m still marrying Alex regardless, but I am glad Clint finally has his chance I’ve been hoping he’d get since the first marriage patch.

I find it really amusing that the fanbase of Stardew Valley, a game about peaceful country life, is considerably more toxic than the fanbase of Doom, a game about ripping demons to pieces.

Him getting this change likely means further developments of his character, so he will probably have a clearer arc to act in a more mature way, especially in that he moves past Emily. If that’s the case, I think he’d be a fine choice as a character.

I’d actually be stoked for a fat bachelor as long as CA can pull off his redemption arc. It kind of sucks that pretty much the only fat guy you interact with regularly was written with incel vibes. Maybe this is CA making up for that faux pas.
If he handles Clint well, the guy might become one of my favorite bachelors. I usually pick Elliott specifically because he’s unconventionally attractive (long hair, unusual fashion, etc.) and a little socially inept at times, so Clint would be right up my alley.
I was still rooting for the wizard though. That man is a FREAK. I want to study him under a microscope like some kind of bacterium.

I’ve never hated him, sure he definitely had less than favorable moments to me but I hate the incel reputation he got it never made complete sense to me. Glad to see he’ll be getting more development

People are bad at letting go of the prior version of a character, especially when they’ve been interacting with that version for so long. This fandom specifically is terrible at remembering that the characters aren’t real human people. I’m excited to see how Clint gets reinvented.

While Clint wasn’t my first choice for a male marital option (Willy, my beloved…) I’m honestly glad he’s getting some love. I feel like Clint was done dirty accidentally by having Emily become a marriage option since it turned their relationship from, “Shy, awkward guy and quirky, lonely girl who you hope might one day find happiness together” to “Man who will not stop being weird about my wife!”
Had Emily not become a marriage candidate we probably would have eventually gotten the option to help them either get together or at least talk things out like adults, but since Emily can easily be the farmers spouse, it wouldn’t really make sense to have a late game story line where the two talk openly about their feelings for one another.
I really hope that, like how Clint has a, “Oh… I missed my shot.” Scene if you date Emily, Emily will now get a chance to have a, “I’m happy for you, Clint!” Scene if you date him, helping to round out their relationship as more then a one sided, awkward crush.

I’ve always been anti-Clint because of the way the character is portrayed but with a romance option I like the idea of him healing and finding love.

As much as I don’t like Clint, I’m glad he’s going to be romanceable! My main issue with him is just how he was written, so I think it’s a great chance for him to be re-characterized a bit. I don’t really see him as a creep, I think he’s just socially awkward and a victim of background-character syndrome. I’m excited to see how he changes as a character

I think part of the reason people don’t like Clint as opposed to Shane is mostly because Shane (can) turn things around while Clint feels much more static

I just had some z-list twitch streamer start a fight with me (then block me for taking issue with their repeated misuse of the term “media literacy”) for saying that Clint is flawed but ultimately well-meaning, as opposed to a deeply toxic, objectively harmful stalker
