Honestly, Clint + Shane and Emily + Sandy make more sense as pairings than the existing ones.
I'm interested to see how Clint develops as a character! I honestly don't get all the hate since to me he just seems really socially anxious/awkward, but I'm autistic and kind of get it I guess?
My first marriage canidate was Maru. She got boring after marriage and there are so few mods for her that I ended up switching to Haley after I started trying to befriend every villager for perfection.
i'm kinda disappointed the male candidate isn't someone else (i wanted it to be the wizard because lol) but clint makes by far the most sense. the whole deal with clint is that he's not supposed to be some creep people hate on and that there's so much drama in the fandom about, his writing is just scuffed, especially since emily got added as a marriage candidate, so of all the characters he's really the one that needs to be updated and have more added to him to better portray whatever the character's actually intended to be.
Honestly Clint is kind of a creep but there are a few things I like about him:
1. He gives you a geode crusher recipe even though it'll bring him less money
2. He laughs at your "silly clown" joke
3. If you give him a loved gift on his birthday he essentially says that people usually forget it, which reminds me of Penny's reaction a bit and I love Penny
The Evelyn and George mention gave me FLASHBACKS to that one mod

I'm so happy we get clint now, before emily was made a marriage candidate he was great, a little awkward but thats it, afterwards he got totally shafted and the community hates him. He deserves so much better than that.
To me honestly I’m very excited for Sandy but I personally feel Clint is so unlovable to me.
Honestly, Im looking forward to a potential 1.8. I want new villagers, new area, more lore on the war, also more customization options, also a time system where the elder dies, You and the other villagers grow up and die aswell, and your kids and jaz and the other kid grow up, become adults, etc, get jobs, (mabye taxes? idk) More dialogue, bug fixes, more magic, the breaking mine walls thing, more flora, a hunting system, stuff like that. oh also An actual implemted rival-heart system. but am wondering when this update is gonna come out.

I want rival heart events sooo bad. Hoping that Clint’s directly stated thing for Emily is the push to implement that with other characters.
It would be extra cool if the game randomly determined what rivals got together (so people wouldn’t argue about ships being cannon) but I know that would be crazy to make multiple heart events for each potential match, esp if they were allowed to be queer. I just want to see the characters interact together more.
Peopl who want the wizard may be disappointed for a long time. I don't think he will ever become a candidate. And I am okay with that because he has his story already.
Just because we get Clint and Sandy, doesn't mean we wont ever get new ones in the future, you never know!

The only thing that bothers me about the idea of marrying the wizard is that he cheated on his wife. I'm not big on dating and marrying someone who had an affair. I like loyalty.

Honestly: good. The fandom has been biased against Clint a long time because we're given a limited view of him and everyone exaggerates on the worst possible interpretation, when its not really supported by the story in game. He deserved and needed better fleshing out.
The only thing I wonder is how they're gonna handle the blacksmith and Sandy's store post marriage
I was (and still am) team Wizard but I'm excited for Clint's character development honnestly.
I wish that, after 10 years, he would finally listen to the criticism multiple people have had of the traveling merchant being a Romani caricature. It's such a stain on the game that can't be ignored once you're aware of it, it's only become harder to ignore after the pig farm constructed over a Romani-only concentration camp in Czechia was finally destroyed and turned into a memorial in 2023. It's hard enough for Romani to be called slurs every second they turn around, it sucks that they can't even turn to a cute game like Stardew Valley to tune out that noise.
