It’s possible to beat the game with no mana at all, so it is also ppssible to beat it with no mana crystal

I know that Throarbin beat a mage-only run with only 1 max mana (not 1 mana star, 1 max mana)

i’m summoner main but earlygame ranged. So yes.
(Mana is only used for stuff like ice wands)
Since I do not need mana to summon things anymore, I ignore it.

I have never done a mage playthrough and rarely use magic items but i dont think ive ever done a run in 10y that i didn’t max out my mana lol

Melee, Ranged, and summon weapons consume no mana, so it is perfectly doable.
Since you start with 20 mana (and some srmors and accesories give extta) as long as you stock up on mana potions, you should be perfectly capable of playing a mage without crafting mana crystals, even if constantly dealing with the debuff for using mana potions.
Hell, you probably could do it without mana potions too if built properly.
