They nerfed yoyos? Just did a yoyo and they feel strong especially once you get the magic string

When playing mage I keep a melee weapon as fallback to keep some damage going while my mana refills. Or a whip if I’m feeling froggy.

I never touched Melee until my 1.4.5 playthrough (with 700hrs before that) and I think it was my best experience since. Actually being able to tank a few hits and being able to decide how offensive/defensive I want to play during bossfights ON MASTER MODE was sooo refreshing.

Once expert and master came out. I pretty much always did melee. The defence is just… Needed. It was harder to play. But then they also made melee.. a ranged class giving all the powerful swords a ranged effect
So I play melee. But actually at range. Without the drawbacks of being squishy AF

Nope. I tried yo-yos back when they came out but didn’t enjoy it a lot since I always play ranger. And now with 1.4 I’ve started playing a summonerranger hybrid because it’s the most fun for me (full summon loadout and using a gunbow while minionssentries do their thing)

Melee is just op and very boring. Its pretty easy to get an optimized tank build and basically never die. Combined that with generally easy to obtain and powerful weapons. Melee is def the least fun class mechanically and macro wise.
Sorbe Cafe made a great video on a 16 player melee world that highlights these issues (he also did this for each class)

I play in Master Mode. Melee is not viable for me except in the few breakpoints in progression where you have access to a good thrown-type “melee” weapon. Armor just doesn’t scale well enough with Master mode damage.
I’m seeing other people say otherwise, I dunno if I just need to git gud.

Melee’s been my main for years now but I’d be lying if I said the constant buffs it’s been getting haven’t diminished my enjoyment of the class overall. I think it has some of the most fun and interesting weapon concepts but the numbers are simply too high for the game to be consistently interesting/challenging the whole way through

I did like 15+ mastermode playthroughs with Mage and never managed to beat The Moonlord.
I recently did my first mastermode Melee playthrough and breezed through the game and killed him on the 4th attempt.
Now I’m on my first ever summoner run and it took me like 15 tries to beat Queen Slime and the bitch didn’t even drop the Blade Staff.
I’m thinking OP’s strategy might be my new go too from now on cuz melee seems pretty busted to me atm, or I may give up and give ranged a try because ranged users seem pretty happy with their class.
I guess I could also just not play Mastermode but if I don’t get a gold statue every time I beat a boss wtf is even the point 😂

I always tell myself I’ll do it differently next time. I never do.
