I’ve never understood why it would be bad for Lewis to be in a relationship with Marnie, in a town as tiny as Stardew Valley.
There is no actual explanation for why it would impede his mayoral position. If someone has more knowledge of this, by all means, tell me. But for now, it just reads as completely unnecessary posturing on his part.

I feel like he is just so scared of marrying Marnie not because of his reputation or anything but because he’s worried he may not be a good husband for her since he loves his authority position so he won’t be able to handle the responsibilities of being a husband

I hate that you can’t just tell him that when you catch the two of them together. It’s either “yes, I’ll keep your secret” or “no, I’m telling everyone” (which just pisses him off). And Marnie just stands there looking sad.
I wish I really could tell the whole town so Lewis could see that no one cares and Marnie could stop feeling like he was hiding her 😤
