this recipe requires you to drop items into a mana pool witch isn't hard to automate with an embers item dropper and a botania hopperhock, but how do I connect it to AE"?

I know that I can connect export and input buses to the item dropper/hopperhock, but how do I make it only send flint when I need gunpowder?

You can use AE’s autocrafting capabilities or you can set up a level emitter connected to your export buses (+ redstone card) to control how much you want in your system

  2. I haven’t played AE2 in a long time so I can’t give you the exact names, but what you want is a processing recipe. You make a recipe that inputs flint and outputs gunpowder, and if I remember correctly you put the recipe in your export bus to tell the system where to export the flint to. After you do that you can click the recipe in your terminal to make the system export flint and wait for gunpowder.

You would need to connect an interface to a chest and put the pattern in the interface. Then you can drop from the chest into the man’s pool and collect the output to import into the system again. Then if you request like 2 stacks of gunpowder, the system puts two stacks of flint into the chest and then expects two stacks of gunpowder to enter the system again.

That’s how you can automate basically everything.
Just tell the system with a pattern that one item turns into another and use an interface with a chest to start the process. Then from the chest you can do anything and import the result at the end
