Which is better?

  1. As much as the old textures are nostalgic, it’s definitely better that they have unique shapes. At least diamonds didn’t really change

Old is gold, but the new textures are the best change to ores by a mile.

Sure I like the old ones and nostalgia is a large part of that, the newer ones are definitely of a better quality.

  4. Why are people suddenly bringing this up again? Caves & cliffs was a few years ago now, not like this is a recent change that we’re still getting used to or something

(not saying that your post is bad at all, just curious)

“Old” image doesn’t even have the right textures for lapis and emerald

    Anyway new is better

I actually prefer the new textures, especially its actually good for people with colour’s blindness(don’t have it just saying its good for people with it)

I think the new is better, artistically, but the old just *looks* *like Minecraft* in a way which the new doesn’t.

There’s no way anyone would say the old ones were better. Sure, they’re nostalgic, but having every ore look the exact same in a dark cave used to be an absolute nightmare when trying to look for something specific. Nowadays, you can tell at a glance. Not to mention, they just look better overall.

  9. Old has literally the same texture for all ores, i dont even wanna hear yalls opinion

  10. New ones are better for the most part

But I do miss some of the colours in the old ones popping out more from the stone of the ore

I like the new style, if I remember correctly it’s supposed to be more accessible for color blind people and that’s cool.

  12. The change was made for accessibility reasons. Depending on your type of colorblindness, it was impossible to differentiate between the older textures that were solely identified by color.

The new ones are better for sure. The uniqueness is a lot better for catching view from afar in the dark. And the diamond ore texture is still the same pretty much, anyway.

I like the new ores a lot more. They all have a unique texture, its not just a recolor.

  15. The thing I loved the most about the old textures was how easy it was to mod in new ores or textures and have them look ‘right.’ Now, people making mods try to make their ores unqiue as well, and it makes it much harder to put together mod packs.

The new ones do look better on their own, but I do kinda miss the old ones.

I’m glad they changed copper, the old texture was indistinguishable from regular stone

  17. I kinda like the new ones more because the colors pop a lot better, but the old ones feel more classic Minecraft.

  18. New.

The change was made to be Colorblind friendly and I must say, it’s been helpful. I’m not fully colorblind, but near enough that the change helps.

  19. I like the new shaped but the older ones are easier for my eyes to see. They stand out from the stone a bit more.

I like the old. I think that any and all new textures while could be default idc should be in a seperate texture pack. Like this is a modular game. Idk the 16 bit deal is kinda important to me and these just look too detailed for me. Next they’ll wanna add shaders to vanilla

I’ve been playing for years but definitely the new ones, the variation in shape makes it much more interesting than it used to be

  22. It was the right call that the diamond ore block remained unchanged shapewise.

  23. Personally i’ve always preferred the shinier look the old ores had, especially diamond and gold.

    New: good for colorblind people
Old: good for literally everyone else
We have to make sacrifices 😑

  25. New is so much better.

And when did Emerald and Lapis had these textures? Specially emerald, I don’t think it ever had the generic ore appearance.
