Sam writes notes on himself so he doesn’t forget. As for Alex compounding names / port-man-tau, he might just be shooting from the hip and guessing. I think he only does that _once_.

Ask him “Where’s that little girl?” He’ll be confused and keep acting like a smirky pompous ass. Then, ask him where his mom is? When he becomes emotional say “there that little girl is” then hair flip and and walk off on him
