
If there's a boss fight and you're in multiplayer, sure keep it as is. But if I am in singleplayer I don't need to sit there and reflect and think about how I died for a quarter of a minute. Let me respawn and play the damn game again.
Genuinely such a small thing but going from 1.4.4 tmodloader with a zillion QOL mods to 1.4.5 vanilla with just resource packs, this sticks out soooo much. I used to set it at 3 seconds and be back in a jiffy.
Edit: Oh, and while we're at it, while it's nice that it was made so you keep your base summon on respawn, it would be such a big time save if, when you have already clicked them once during the play session, the gazing ball and sharpening stone and bewitching table and all those buffs just stayed through death. Getting back to the arena and forgetting that I didn't get my extra summon or armor penetration or magic damage is just like aduioashdoukas why is this a thing. IDK maybe that's just me tho lol

Sounds like you just need more skill
It is pretty grating staring at the long timer, redoing all the furniture buffs, manually healing with the nurse, resummoning summons, getting back to where you were, and then possibly dying again right away and having to do it all again. In my latest run I couldn’t help but start thinking of everything as a waste of potions. Oh, I died and wasted a dozen potions again. I’m getting low, gonna have to fish for that again soon. It’s like living in poverty in a wartorn country or something. I never played modded but just coming back to the game from a long break this stuff sticks out in a bad way. Constantly losing my buffs and having to redo them, leaving base forgetting to redo my buffs or heal and then dying faster than usual or having to turn around. With all the other QoL improvements the game has had, I think there’s room to improve some of this stuff. Oh, and the music on drunk worlds, add that to the list. Restarted your game? Maybe your sound died due to that recent bug? Music set back to the weird stuff, gotta manually change it again, plus redo all your buffs and so on… Insanely tedious. I’d also love it if when switching loadouts back and forth it’d resummon your max number of summons. I swap to my fishing or mining loadout for a few minutes and then I have to slowly resummon most of the segments of my Stardust Dragon after I switch back to the main loadout, every time.
100% agreed, it’s so unnecessary and obnoxious in singleplayer. Very surprising this is still in the game.
It’s so death has weight and there’s a chance for monsters to steal your gold in Expert mode. You already keep your items by default. I think it’s ok for *some* punishment to exist, personally.
My only issue is the respawn timer in a Multiplayer boss fight still being long after all bosses have despawned from the world. This is extremely annoying in FtW when you’re the last one to die during the fight. 60 seconds of my time wasted when there’s no action anymore to even spectate.
It honestly feels like an oversight because the Shorter Respawn Timer mod fixes this issue while keeping multiplayer boss fight penalties.

a lot of mods make it so you just respawn as soon as the boss despawns, and i think this would work a lot better.
I thought its because of boss fights with friends but that doesnt make sense why it would happen outside of boss fights especially in single player
