Dead/Wilted crops is still counted in the 3×3 requirement

  1. Interesting. Also, kind of cool that the game chose that one since you had other whole patches that would seem more likely.

  2. Well I knew unharvested crops still grew giant crops but not that dead crops counted

Yeah, that’s the best way to get giant crops. Plant with the best speed grow you have in whatever area you want, and each night is a roll that you’ll get a giant crop

  4. Thats a great discovery. Im pretty sure most of the community knew that you can just water fully grown crops for more giant chances but the wilted crops, thats news to me. Thx for sharing

Ive been trying to get a giant crop every stardew year but it never happens 🙁

  6. I did not know about the dead/not fully grown crop. Might have to abuse this next time I start a new farm. Just have to keep in mind to keep the top left of every 3×3 and replant the rest on harvest days.

Might even be worth planting cauliflower day 1 in a pattern, and plant the rest on day 4, to guarantee atleast two harvests, with the potential cheese of the crop absorbing the rest early.

According to BlaDe and his code deep dives, giant crop status is only effected by the top left crop of the 3×3 setup. That crop only needs to be watered and fully grown to trigger a giant crop spawn – you don’t need the rest of the crops to be grown, or even watered.
