Summoner Staffs got a new set of modifiers in Terraria 1.4.5! This is a change that summoners really needed, because the previous modifiers that staffs had access to worked very poorly with minions. The new modifiers are actually suited to summoner staffs and make a lot of them way stronger!

I also really love the new summoner reforges! they actually benefit the class instead of being shoved straight into ruthless since it gave the most damage. You also slightly touched on it regarding the tag damage bonus and how it stacks with multiple minions, but ruthless is still better on some weapons. Namely, the summons that get stronger with each additional slot, as opposed to summoning more of the same minion. Abigail and the desert tiger staff are great examples of this, as their damage scales much better with ruthless than fabled, as they receive minimal benefit from the armor pen and summon tag buffs, being that they only apply once. Sentries also benefit greatly from the summon tag bonus, especially the dd lightning staffs, as their rapid attacks are greatly enhanced with the inclusion of summon tag.
The only prefix I used to use was ruthless due to the extra damage. I was not concerned about knockback.
