  1. Normal vanilla Terraria activity seems to be around 20 million hours per month on Steam, so this is around 4x that. 1.4.4 would only be double.

  2. the way this update was handled was a fucking mess, and I'll die on this hill that showing us new silly toys or weapon that is instantly outclassed by anything else you get at that time instead of a rough release estimate was stupid
I didnt sit through 3 years of "BUY OUR MERCH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE" for questionable balance changes nobody asked for like whip stack and dart nerfs, or melee getting all the buffs like the ale tosser becoming melee or making paladin's hammer even stronger by giving it armor penetration for some reason???????

  3. Due note that this is only on steam, not counting the console platforms and mobile, if those were added then at best the shown playtime numbers on the video might be doubled or more

As of writing this I only have a measly 91 hours on a new character on switch 1, when I've spent those times are a bit sperratic from the release of 1.4.5.0 to now but knowing there's more people on the same console (and 2) who have played much more (and less) the numbers would probably change the numbers in the video Atleast a little bit

  4. My best guess is similar to yours—1.4.5 was so long awaited that the population was way more excited to play it. I imagine the huge chatter about the update also brought a lot of newer terrarians, older ones who’ve stopped, and people who never played it into the game as well
