I recently found out that if you keep this quest active, you can get 3 shards every time you visit the skull cavern. I only go during the good luck days. Anyone doing the same?
This quest being active has nothing to do with the number of prismatic shards you get. It’s just coincidence

How often has this happened? Because it’s 100% sheer coincidence, it doesn’t work that way. Drops are not influenced by any quests.

That has never been the case for us. We have yet to ever actually finish this one. The best we have ever done in the timeframe is 3 shards. Honestly I usually find shards way more frequently when this quest is not active.
So I don’t think it is an actual hack, and the RNG Gods just smile on you.

I just had this quest after reaching perfection, my statue gives me a prismatic shard every day, I didn’t think it’d be that easy, but it was. I think I’m going to have to start a new farm!

Tip for this quest: if you’re swimming in Omni geodes and you’ve done the Clint’s quest for the geode crusher – find prismatic shards in those machines but don’t pick them up until you have the quest.

Save your golden mystery boxes for the racoon (20 for 1 rock candy I think) and purchase rock candy on Thursdays in desert (with 3 prismatic shards), stock pile those candies. Go into the desert mine on a great luck day with 3 rock candies + activate mine statue to either find ladders more easily or survive bombs.
Grab your stock pile of staircases (purchase on Sundays in desert with jade) and all the bombs. Then go down to at least level 50 quickly with staircases and kill monsters + bomb all rocks on levels that have more than plain rocks right in enarance. Otherwise use a staircase to next level till it looks promising with iridium rocks. Also ALWAYS bomb the rare fancy swirly iridium rocks. I love this quest!!
