Tip Friday #2: Craft a boat as soon as you can. It’ll help you in everything and not just moving over water.


Both have many uses in-game including but not limited to:

  1. Trapping and stalling mobs in place

  2. Transferring villagers

  3. Lets you leash almost any mob in the game by putting them on the boat and leash it (the boat)

  4. Bring as many as you can when you visit a piglin bastion so you can freeze/trap piglin brutes in place

    Great idea, poor execution.

    The tip is to carry wood around and be mindful of what you can use it for. You don’t need to waste a slot on a boat.

    That’s a good thought. I use depth strider to get across water, but I guess you can’t really get that early on.

    Also fall from any height. Never forget boats negate fall damage.

    Also if you are quick enough you can get in and out of the boat while falling to take a very long time to hit the ground, because getting in the boat resets it’s downward velocity. Using this you can go pretty far forward.

    Boats are honestly one of those early game items that end up being way more useful than most players expect.

    Wait have they changed it so you can place boats on non water blocks? (Bedrock)
