I've been playing Minecraft off and on since 2011, I've taken a longer break than usual.
I never stay up to date with things so I was absolutely blown away when I loaded up a new world and was greeted with the prettiest water I've ever seen. THERE ARE REFLECTIONS NOW, and other graphic settings I never thought would exist in default Minecraft lol.
