The lore wouldn’t match up with the mech bosses, as calamity shows the mech bosses as draedon’s creation, while base shows it as an experiment to recreate Cthulhu, and not to mention, the main antagonist in both versions are severely directed toward one another, shown in both’s lore.
The only thing from calamity I'd like to see in vanilla is the abyss it's my favorite area In calamity and I wish the ocean in terraria had more love put into it instead of it just being a big lake at the edges of your world (really id just like to see a bigger and deeper ocean in vanilla)
Oh absolutely not, the quality of calamity is absolutely on par with vanilla but it would have to be dramatically dumbed down as the difficulty spike isn't really compatible with the vanilla experience.
I feel like if terraria were to get any dlc, calamity would probably be the best bet. If it wasnt for the fact that it changes every 2 weeks for no reason
Calamity is good the way it is. We got it as a mod. It's given possibly even the base game some extra popularity as well, so no need to separate neither combine. Keep it as a mod. It's awesome the way it is. 😅
I think as an update absolutely not but as a dlc or something it would not only make much more sense it would potentially allow console and mobile players to play it as well and I feel like it’s actually within reason for relogic to do it.
Calamity is basically Terraria 2. It builds off of the original game a substantial amount but that doesn’t make the base game any less fun to most people
I love Calamity but no the hell it should not. Vanilla Terraria is already complicated enough, adding the entirety of Calamity in its current state would just be disastrous
Redigit should just make the game peogression a bit longer and smoother. Making pre hardmode have more bosses and maybe sometjing to make them have btoh corruptions. And pre golem and pre ml should have some bosses
Looking for more content is valid as everyone has diferent needs
But Something i learnt from years and years of being part of different communities, is that, the fact i liked so much something does't means that my tastes shouldn't be universal or for everyone Because, the fact that i enjoy something doesn't mean that everyone does
Also Calamity stuff would make terraria heavier for lower resources devices… Just saying
I think Calamity could work as the game, if it was that way from the start. But now it's sort of locked into being a mod, because of the reasons you said. Terraria is good how it is. Calamity is good how it is. Combining the two now would take away from one or the other, and leave an overall worse thing.
Not fun? No it definitely is very fun. Overrated? Yeeaah a little. It's popularity causes other mods to be left completely in the shadows and not just see less use by players, but by content creators too.
If anything, I think that it should be thorium instead of calamity. Thorium just feels like a content mod that's trying to keep the vanilla experience present
Calamity mod is slop. Its just 50 bossfights with weapons incompatable with everything else and farming for 5 hours to get the 200 accessories you need for your kit Its just the largest best looking mod. Thinks like mod of redemption are far far more engaging than just dodging projectiles that shit out at mach 10 500 at once each bossfight, not to mention its been struggling to add any new content for years, hasnt even been able to get out a resprite to its primary boss for like 5 years, keeps adding 10 million patreon items that either are completely irrelevant or make everything else irrelevant and balance changes that invalidate mid game gear every patch EXCEPT FOR MELEE I dont even think it has much replay value. Building your character isnt interesting because the progression is so specific (until the balance changes and your previous gear is invalidated) and all the bosses just end up feeling the same except the final 3 At best its ALRIGHT, but its SUPER overrated
some of the features of calamity, even ignoring the other stuff just wouldn’t work in terraria and removing them would make calamity worse but keeping them would make terraria lose something, like reusable boss summons.. infinite money right away basically, lots of “qol gone too far” in the context of vanilla but works with calamity
I love terraria, I love calamity, I have been playing for a good while. Calamity adds allot of new crafting trees, secrets, bosses, just so much. On its own terraria can be difficult for new people to understand and will probably cause a good amount of struggle. If calamity was added as default, it would 100% turn allot of the more casual fans away on top of allot of new people.( not all but still a fair amount I think)
The thing terraria needs is a reason to use anything else that titanium/adamantite in early hardmode. You should only get up to mythril/orichalcum until you fight the first mech boss, then adamantite/titanium after your second mech boss, and lastly hallowed after beating the third mech boss

They should have it be like a Difficulty that adds all the stuff from calamity including the bosses
Almost all of calamity is focused on turning the game into a boss rush, it would really make terraria feel like a worse sandbox game.

I hate these kinds of players. They're so hateful and aggressive to everyone who doesn't use their mod.
I’m going to try out calamity anything I should know before I try it? Without spoiling anything.
Have it as a seed
i just dont like how boss centric it is tbqh
I wouldn't be opposed to official DLC treatment where you can just turn it on or off when making a world

The only mod I’d wanna see added to vanilla is thorium

You could say the same for rl craft and Minecraft. They're both great but shouldn't be the same
I think some features from calamity should be base game like lower respawn timers
why are we acting like its hard to use modded terraria, the client isnt even 1 gb lmao
I think the vanilla version is enough for me

If a mod WOULD be added to terraria, the best option is Thorium

thorium is the real vanilla+
Calamity should be added to original? No
Infernum should be added to Calamity as a whole? Yes. Completely optional too
It should be a official free DLC at most.
calamity is overrated and i do not enjoy it
Nono chat we are WRONG…
The Infernum wrath of the gods should be a special seed 🙂
No, thanks. I'm okay with that bloatfest as a mod but that's that
Maybe an on or off switch
All i want is console mod support
Calamity mod is extremely overrated, it's fun and all, but not as good of an experience as people make it out to be
