I generally just ignore it when people call him young man and also handwave the implications of the timeline with grandpa.

I’ve done it, but the NPCs still doing the whole “kid”, “lad/lass”, “young”, “whole life ahead of you” spiel breaks my immersion too much so I generally roleplay characters that are max 35… which is younger than I am at this point.
Also even if you aren’t dating I’ve noticed the marriagable NPCs get flirty around 8 hearts, stuff like “aren’t you cold in that big ol’ house all alone with no one to cuddle up to at night? You know I’ve thought about living on a farm too…” and it’s extra awkward when they are young enough to be your character’s kid.
I get why it is that way in Stardew, for the narrative, but sometime I want to RP a little old lady running a small bakery with forest spirits to help her garden and turn most of the map into woodland and a junimo village.

Unfortunately it’s very difficult especially how most games with character creation don’t count to the fact that some people might make older characters so you will probably go through awkward moments when a dud will call you something like kid or young adventurer or you might get lectured like a kid by a older npc

Yeah, been doing an old fisherman build on the river farm.
yeah your guy kinda reminds me of mine lol. im currently wack freeman of wacko bell farm. he kinda looks like [Tom from Lost](https://i.redd.it/k512hf97uzb81.jpg) so the look really stuck for me. well the night i made him i had my pcs night light on, or maybe its the recolor, idk why the skin is like that. i thought it was shading for his skin but it looks like blood so i just headcanon him as a murderer who rolls around in blood even though ive never seen it happen. but i suspect it. anyway i was going to romance pam with a mod because she seemed like a perfect fit for him but it just felt too weird to me

I’ve tried to before, but in-game dialogue really throws me off. I hope in 1.7 we can get an age bar at least so people don’t call my grey-haired fisherman “lad”

One of my favourite characters of all time is an old rancher from The Ranch series. I always think about making a save with him as inspo. I might as well do it after this! (:
