The wiki says they now inflict static i-frames instead of global immunity frames, which means they no longer block other weapons from attacking the same enemy.
This seems like a huge buff, and I'm pretty sure they were pretty strong prior to the buff already. They might perform better than most post-plantera damaging accessories, I suppose.

OP? certainly not, probably. idk I’ve never used them, I’m always kinda pressed on slots cause of wings and stuff
this might take them up to good though (assuming as previously that they weren’t before)
They are really good. I started using them after killing Plantera in my latest run, and they helped immensely. I just actually replaced them minutes ago with a celestial shell, so I’ll see if I miss them pretty quickly. I’m killing the Empress of Light next.
Unfortunately the buff didn’t work correctly (here’s a [forum thread](https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/some-invulnerability-frame-oddities-please-fix-these.148301/#post-3417054) that showcases this). When they gave it static i-frames, they gave it to the wrong projectiles (they gave it to the projectiles that spawn the spore gas clouds, not the clouds themselves). This means the spore sac is effectively unchanged from 1.4.4 and still has global i-frames.
Hey are crazy powerful now may they never be nerfed.
