Now I realize this is my own fault that I didn’t know the pillars spawned immediately after the cultist💀 so I’m feeling unprepared for this part of the game lmao
- Is this just terrible luck that this pillar spawned right above my NPC housing?? (corruption also hit this house when I entered hard mode and just got it all purified not too long ago, ignore the walls I haven’t taken the time to actually redo the design🙃)
- I get hit.. a lot..lol. I have the beetle armor, Terra blade, Terraspark boots, and butterfly wings (yes there are better wings I could get but these ones are cute) what other equips should I have on to help my chances for the pillars/moon lord? Or things I should get/do?
Thanks!

What modifiers do you have on all your gear? Warding can carry you pretty hard if on all your gear.
1 yep, just luck
2 you can put the butterfly wings in the blue slot next to the green slot with different wings, so you use the stats of the wings in the green slot but your character visually still has the butterfly wings.
1. Could be bad luck, but the pillars will always spawn somewhere within four specific zones on the surface.
2. The Fire Gauntlet helps a lot for damage output. Would highly recommend. Some other good accessories are the Charm of Myths for survivability, the Celestial Shell for a variety of buffs and the Soaring Insignia for general mobility.
Other than that, try getting up to 500 max HP if you haven’t already, and make sure to have thrown a Life Crystal and Life Fruit into shimmer.
Good luck and have fun!
you can put the butterfly wings on the vanity slot which replaces the appearance of the actual wings you’re wearing, brute force through the pillars and get super potions, you choose whether you fight the moon lord or quit the game before it surely kills you lol
this part always sucks but it kinda goes hard as hell when you’re going through it.
and also moon lord’s gonna take more than one attempt so don’t feel bad for losing, been playing for 80 years and thulu still beats me 🥶🥶🥶👽👽👽
Your amor is actually pretty good, but it has two breasplates, I suggest you to stick to the one with higher defense…
Now, your gear might be fine but I suggest you to eliminate the solar pilar first, it gives you solar fragments and you can make 2 excelent weapons out of them, you will be able to destroy the other pilars with this new weapons, aaaaand you should be getting ready to fight moonlord, for him, just use the daybreak and it will be easy, please dont try to use the eruption on him
Maybe you could increase your defense with a goated accesory, its made with a frozen turtle shell and the paladin’s shield (you get it in the dungeon)
Nah you cant have known. On my main world the pillars always spawn above my desert house too lmao
Edit: forgot to mention, if you wanna just face tank shit cause you can’t dodge, reforge your accessories to warding. Also the Ninja Tabi gives a dodge and a chance to not take damage.
Yeah just bad luck you built it there. They have set spawn areas, but they have a small radius they can appear, so it’ll be around there, just not always in the EXACT same spot. And also might be a different pillar.
And you can place wings in a social spot and use better ones, the social slot will not have any affects, but it will keep the fairy wings on your character, then you can use better wings for their stats and not their looks! I use Mothron Wings as my vanity wings.
My suggestion is that you should get an ankh shield, celestial shell, the Flesh knuckles combined with the Paladin shield, and some Ninja Tabi, and if you wanna go for it, a Fire Gauntlet, just cause you seem to be a Melee player. This’ll be a LOT of grinding you’ll have to do while your surface is taken over, but it’s your best shot at high defense and damage.
Plus if you just turn off the visibility of the Celestial Shell you’ll stay your regular character model and won’t turn into a merfolk or werewolf.
I also suggest potions, endurance, iron skin, regen are the ones that’ll help a lot, but these pillars just HUGE slugfests, you’ll probably die a lot, just keep killing guys til the shield is broken, it’ll be the same for each just a little harder.
Since you’re a Melee build go for the Solar pillar first. It isn’t the hardest one, that goes to either Nebula or Vortex, but if you’re not expecting a huge fight where you bash your face into everyone constantly it’ll seem harder than it is.
High defence and high damage will get you through, don’t fly or the Crawltepede will kill your ass IMMEDIATELY
It’s not just bad luck; It’s unfortunate that you happened to build there, but the pillars always spawn around the same location; If you use the Compass in a small world, the pillars will spawn around 2,520 West, 840 West, 840 East, and 2,520 East. On a large world, just double the numbers, and on medium worlds, the numbers are slightly more than 50% larger. They can spawn up to 100 blocks in either direction of these coordinates.
If you want a more in-depth explanation, you can read it [here](https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Celestial_Pillars#Pillar_spawning_mechanics)
dying a lot to pillars is common, i’d recommend going for the solar pillar first, Solar eruption is good for the other pillars, Daybreak is good for Moonlord, with luck you get enough fragments for both.
If you’re not afraid to change up your play style, the Spectre set with the Spectre Staff is a really solid tanky build.
If you have the Spectre Hood equipped, a percentage of your damage is converted into healing to you (or allies if in multiplayer).
The Spectre Staff has homing projectiles so you don’t have to focus much on aim and more on dodging. Also grab a Magnet Sphere to give more damage output, and thus more chances of healing.
Switch out melee accessories with defensive accessories, and try to make celestial cuffs so damage taken keeps your mana pool high.
