Gyeongbokgung Palace was founded in 1395 as the main royal palace

of the Joseon Dynasty — the kingdom that preceded modern Korea.

It was destroyed during the Imjin War of 1592,

then rebuilt 270 years later in 1867.

But during the Japanese colonial period, 90% of its buildings were demolished.

The Korean War brought further destruction through bombing.

Even after independence, the modern Korean government tore down

remaining structures (including Seonwonjeon) to build the National Folk Museum.

Today, only about 40% of the original palace has been restored —

and reconstruction is moving slowly due to a lack of historical records.

I built this in Minecraft because I wanted more people to see

what Gyeongbokgung once looked like in its full glory.

I hope to see it fully restored someday.
