I'm not very good at articulating my ideas using words, so I'll try to keep this short.

RPG – Role-Playing Game
This is the primary goal of Strongholds & Serpents, nothing else matters. Minecraft however is both a good and bad platform to execute this concept.

The core gameplay loop of: mining – crafting – fighting – looting does not interest me in the slightest, there's just not much "self-expressionism" in these activities, despite the dozen modded classes or playstyles you can take, deep down they're all the same.

"Self-expressionism", that should be the main goal of a true RPG. The actions that your "character" (controlled by you) performs to interact with the surrounding world, defines the role you play in that world.

How would a "pacifist treasure hunter" survive in this harsh fantasy world? What about an "amputee Hero, now a wandering merchant"? Or a "lowly courier with hidden talents for the mystics"? And what if someone wanted to become just a town guard?

Each made-up role could tell a million stories, and evidently, each role becomes an outlet to express your self.

How would Strongholds & Serpents accomplish all of these? I don't know yet, but by the time it releases, I must have the way already paved for at least 10 different "roles" one can take, with the ultimate goal to immerse players into the fantasy world of Strongholds & Serpents.
