How do I make this town look better (it looks really empty and dull)
I also have no idea how to integrate it with the castle…should I build a giant wall around the town connecting it to the castle walls? I don’t know if I want them to share walls…sos
You need established roads and also alley clutter. Make that space to the right the main town square, add like some market booths. Add small animal pins in the market, like they are selling them. I wouldn’t suggest building a giant wall around the town, unless you are not planning to expand it out further. Add a kingdom flag on some of the houses. Also, add lanterns and torches everywhere for good lighting.

Its too perfect, no variety in the cobblestone or other textures. Also currently as it stands its just a bunch of buildings. A city usually has food sources, water, entertainment, solicitors, and “work stations.”

From what I can see, you need roads

Roads and spawning or relocating villagers to populate the town. Might need an outer wall to contain villagers inside the town.

Needs roads and roadside decorations to make it feel lived in, even just a slight difference in the color of the cround would work, and stalls, signs, and roadside junk like crates, barrels, and wagons, make it feel cluttered, not empty

Add villagers, copper golems, and water features with axolotls in ’em. Add movement, and those bring you movement

As others have mentioned, roads. You need distinct paths because it looks like there aren’t really any at the moment. I will also suggest horse-drawn carriages and the like, little merchant stores too. It will feel more lived in that way. If you’ve ever messed around with armour stand datapacks, those are also another fun way of adding life, though they can get laggy.

Experiment with adding variety to the walls and stuff and also add life (e.g. viilagers, parrots, flowers)

Take notes from Skyrim’s city Solitude. Similar house and castle problem you have. You’re missing statues, flowers in private gardens, market stalls in town square, job specific structures like forges to tell what type of person lives where, flags up high to indicate where stores are trying to get your attention, military districts by the castle, etc.
Need a well in the center of all the houses. Catecombs entrance on the edge of town. Draining system for rain next to roads that lead to a pond downstream. Infrastucture tells the town’s story.

Roads, flowers, and maybe bunting between buildings. Something to add color. I’d reccomend warm colors, so yellow, red, orange if you don’t want it to over power the builds.

Add some villagers and animas running around in it, big one like a lot have said is texturing/weathering, add vines and flowers around, disrupt the clean uniformity of the build. Mossy cobble, stone brick variants, things like that. That’s what I’d do
