Been seeing a lot of players lately having a super messy hotbar setup when doing lets plays and I remember the old days where they have a consistent standard in hotbar layout.

Typically this is how I roll, no exceptions, consistency gets me out of sticky situations in modpacks.

My 6th slot is most likely a utility maybe for like movement or if theres no item like that then I just use a crafting table as replacement on the 6th slot.

How about you guys?

  1. Dude i also sort then like this, but i have torches in the off hand when i need them and food on 5.

My sister only sorts her tools but she does it from right to left. Actual psychopath.

  2. axe (weapon), pickaxe, shovel, whatever, whatever, whatever, building blocks, food, secondary food/water (I usually play realistic modpacks), torches in offhand

  3. Slot 1 is reserved for food unless there is a quest book/akashic tome, then food goes in slot 2. Slot 3 is my utility tool (I play mostly tech modpacks so it’s often a wrench. Pickaxe is 9, axe is 8 and sword is 7. And then the middle 3 are kinda for whatever I need.

  4. I put the quest book in 1, even if i can access it in the inventory. Then weapon, then tools in no particular order. Then food and random bits

  5. 1 sword
    2 pick
    3 axe
    4 utility/axe/shovel depending on pack
5-9 whatever random bullshit the pack domestic abuse me into needing easy access to

    2: Axe

    3: Pickaxe

    4: Shovel

    5: Food

    6: Whatever/Torches (if building)

    7: Whatever

    8: Clock

    9: Bed

  7. First three for chainsaw and drill or pickaxe, axe and shovel, three in the middle is water bucket, food or 3 guns, and the last 3 slots is either empty hand or backpacks.

Pick, sword, axe, shovel, torch, food. And no matter what, ninth slot is always open.

Modded, I usually keep two backpacks on the hotbar as well.

This is my universal loadout and it even goes into games as well that has similar tools.

  9. sword, pick, axe, bow, shovel, misc, misc, water, food, torch, shield in offhand

the misc changes based on what I’m currently doing. Shovel can get swapped out, too, as can bow. But things I need fastest are always arranged on 1-4.

  10. 1-sword
    2-pickaxe
    3-axe/shovel
4-bow/crossbow or shovel (if not on 3)
5-7 are flexible (building blocks, torches, water bucket etc.)
    8-quest book/akashic tome/lexica botania or w/e
    9-food.
5-7 are flexible (building blocks, torches, water bucket etc.)

also just learned i genuinely get physically uncomfortable from just reading about people having anything other than a sword on 1 lol

  11. Pick, axe, sword, shovel, pillaring block (cobble, dirt, etc), free slot, food, water bucket, torches. It’s been this was since infdev and it’s muscle memory at this point so it’ll never change.

  12. Combat on the left; bows, swords, other weapons.

Block breaking on the right; axe, pickaxe, etc

Tools in the middle remaining slots; Flint and steel, shears, water, blocks, hoes, etc

1 pick, 2 shovel, 3 sword, 4 axe, … 9 torches. It’s kinda in order of the stuff I use. Plus if there is tinkers or something like that then you can just right click the torches with the pick.

    3. One of: a torch, wrench, or portable crafting table.
    4. One of: an axe, shovel, wrench, or port crafting table.
    5. A shovel when mining, otherwise empty.
    6. Empty.
    7. Empty.
    8. Empty.
    9. Early game, food. Once I get an auto-feeder, than some form of a wireless grid or backpack. If I’m playing a modern pack that allows backpacks and grids to be opened with hotkeys, then I move my portable crafting table here.

when playing a modpack that you can beat on peaceful:

slot 1 is a pickaxe (or paxel), 2 is an axe (or utility item when using a paxel), 3 is usually a utility item, the rest are reserved for blocks

When a modpack isn’t beatable on peaceful:

slot 1 is a pickaxe (or paxel), 2 is an axe (or sword), 3 food (or utility item), 4 utility item (or just blocks), the rest are for blocks

this is honestly only when I’m organized which is fairly rare, normally it’s just whatever I can use at the moment with tools in my inventory
