So we all know Robin built her entire home herself. It just makes me think of why Sebastian feels like the "forgotten one."

I mean, think about it, Robin initially built the home for herself, Sebastian, and her ex-husband. (Status: we don't know if they divorced, he died, etc.) Clearly, Maru's room must have been made for Sebastian, right? But when his dad was no longer in the picture, Robin married Demetrius, then they had Maru, and Sebastian most likely got pushed down to the basement because there was no other room for him but the basement.

(I even tried exploring the idea that maybe Sebastian wanted his room in the basement, but wouldn't he have just been a kid? Why would Robin even allow that to begin with when she could have just made him a whole other bedroom. We all know she's capable.)

Imagine no longer having your dad, your mom remarried and is starting a new family and you get pushed down to the basement. I would feel unwanted and ignored.

To top it off, Maru became the golden child, while Sebastian just lived in the background.

Again, just something I was thinking about on my run. I planned to marry Sebastian, so I was constantly at their house when the thought came to me, LOL

It's just opinion/theory, but lemme know if any of you agree and have some insight!

  1. I could see a scenario in which a kid Sebastian says he wants a big basement all to himself and she agrees. But also, I think Robin mentions that she met Demetrius at college and Sebastian was a baby, so at the very least she must’ve built the house after she met and left Sebastian’s father.

If Maru was born in the house, then it’s possible they shared a room for a while and then had to “compete” for who would keep the bedroom when they get older, and Demetrius would probably favour Maru having the bedroom and Sebastian the basement “because he’s a man and he’ll like the privacy anyway”.

Maru’s room is actually a partially detached house outside the main structure. It was likely built later on.

My guess would be the two kids initially shared a room but when they got older each wanted their own. Rooms got shuffled around and the expansion was built. Sebastian I can easily see choosing the basement to isolate himself from a family he feels separated from.

The lab would have been a different room before Demetrius was in the picture. Could have been a nursery for Maru or Seb’s room. Now Seb is an adult with a work from home job and needs his own space, so moving to the basement makes sense.

In my head Seb took the basement room because he’s older and older teens are going to want (and should be allowed to have) a little more privacy.

tbh he and maru probably would’ve shared that bedroom til they got older.

it could also be that the lab room was originally his bedroom before he wanted more privacy. we learn through cutscenes and normal dialogue that sebastian clearly likes being left alone when he’s working, and that he doesn’t feel a connection to his stepdad and likely wouldn’t have wanted to keep a room on the ground floor regardless. that’s how i see it anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️

I like to think that Sebby wanted the basement from the get go. Plus it makes more sense for band practice to be in the basement room. Having a basement room just fits his personality more

  7. Makes me wonder where the garage is in relationship to the basement as it is not pictured, unless it’s the lab. But then Seb’s motorcycle is missing. Seems possible that it could be attached to the staircase and the basement
