ok good news first, I have beaten the wall of flesh. Bad news, my town is going to be overrun by the crimson. I can't find the hearts of alters. I looked underground. Please help
(Also, mods, would you consider my platform to be pc or mobile? I play on my laptop *a Chromebook*, so I downloaded from the Play Store, so… ?)

You need to smash crimson Alters
Move into the Hallow to prevent npcs from moving out.
Altars and hearts have nothing to do with biome spread. Now that you are in hardmode evil biomes will just spread like that all the time. You can use purification powder or the clentaminator (requires beating 1 mech boss) to push it back, and dig a hole to stop the spread completely.
Chromebook has ability to install Android apps but the OS is in a laptop. So PC is better.

I’d assume since you installed via the Play Store it’s the mobile version of the game. To temporarily save your town, buy some sunflowers from the dryad and plant them in uncorrupted grassy dirt. They negate some of the evil blocks from counting towards housing being corrupted, so enough of them will keep the town a town while you deal with the underlying problem.
When you defeat your first mechanical boss, you unlock the Steampunker who has a tool to really help contain the evil biomes and hallow. Then later when you defeat Planters it will slow down the biome spread rate.
As far as the hardmode ores, you are looking for crimson or demon altars. They are what you crafted your summoning items at. You’ll need to break at least 3 (or 6 on a drunk world) to get the full range of ores, and from there breaking additional ones will add more ore to the world but isn’t completely necessary.
