The vast majority of the drops have updated old mechanics to make them more useful (moving mobs with leads, using horses for transportation, overworld exploration), even Tiny Takeover added the functionality to halt aging to make baby mobs more important and usable in game, out of all the criticisms this one just simply doesn’t make sense.

“Old overworld biomes modernized”
You mean they added leaves on the ground?

What about the Desert and Other biomes??

While I agree somewhat I feel the meme is referring to a lot of the problematic Minecraft systems like barely anything has changed with durability, enchanting, brewing, progression, exploration and even to some extent combat. The devs are either just adding new systems or slightly adding to old ones when most of them need major reworks.

1. Updating old mechanics isn’t really what this is about
2. Actually goes completely counter to your point. Adding Dog Armor in via Armadillo instead of it just being craftable with leather or w/e is a perfect example of the meme
3. Same as No.1, also pointing this out as an example of “good game design” kinda backfires because this is such a basic thing (because the old content was already integrated) and instead points out how little actual good integration the updates have
4. Same as 1 and 3
5. REALLY shoots your own argument in the foot. The fact that you have to point out that Copper needed to have additional uses tacked on really shows how poorly it was implemented and completely proves the meme right
6. Same as 1,3 and 4
The main argument of the meme is that Mojang does not properly integrate the new mechanics they add, your points don’t disprove that and, in fact, prove it more. Bringing up the updating of old mechanics doesn’t really adress the argument, because that’s not what it’s about. No one has problems with the new Swamp or Mountains or w/e.

* i feel the need to repeat myself from yesterday
* the problem is that no matter how amazing the newer updates are, it is not enough, and never will be enough as long as they never touch the core gameplay again.
* the core issue at the root is that Minecraft has an identity crisis, and a legacy. Minecraft in recent years absolutely refuses to change anything about its core gameplay loop. It’s Minecraft, the best selling video game of all time, we can’t change its core! Except they should. Every single problem the core gameplay has cannot be addressed because that means change. So instead the developers add small little bits of side content that can never interact with the core gameplay lest something about it changes and pisses off its core fans.
* Minecraft is a slog of a grindfest if you actually wanna play it like intended, both as a survival and more creative-orientated player. Enchanting and Villager Trading are especially boring systems, The End existing at all in its current state is horrible and antithetical to Minecraft’s vision. These things will never be fixed, though.
* it hurting the game’s vision especially. Minecraft was always advertised as a great sandbox to build whatever you wanted. So why do i feel the need to complete this totally arbitrary final boss? Why do only like 3 enchantments matter and the rest can be thrown in the garbage, discouraging exploration and use of the system? Why can i skip all the game’s exploration because Villager trades are so overpowered that they remove the need to do anything besides monotonous grinding?
* same goes for so many other systems. Fishing and food being dull after all these years, transportation being entirely dominated by Elytra. Potions go a step in the right direction, but are missing that sense of magic that Enchanting is ALSO missing, they feel basic in that aspect. You touch maybe 3-4 potion types and ignore the rest.
* yes you can ignore these things, but 1) them existing at ALL means theres a mindgame at play that draws you towards the progression, and the optimization. And 2) Things like Elytra and Shulker Boxes and Mending are locked behind all this, some of the most useful things you can have that can expand your creativity, in this game all about its sandbox.
* fixing these things is all they need to do, and i bet that would be easier than doing all these side additions. and yet every single time they don’t.

“see, they’ve touched an old system by adding a new recipe! that means the 4 new systems detached from everything else in the game isn’t a genuine criticism!”
there is no discussing any design in this game anymore and i hate both sides
also calling it a lead “rework” is crazy marketing talk considering it was just making them slightly better to use

Half of this stuff is just bandage fixes
We still have issues like trial chambers, making every older structure feel outdated
Dead end materials, littering the game like armadillo skeutes
